About this Cook
I live with my Husband and four spoiled dogs in Northern CA. My Daughter is grown and "left the nest" so I love to cook for company and special occasions whenever I get the chance. I like to bake and try new recipes and of course put my own spin on them.
My favorite things to cook
I love Bar-B-Que and I know the difference between "grilling" and real Bar-B-Que. We have three grills and one smoker!! I love to cook with the seasons, picking out the freshest fruits and veggies the season has to offer.
My cooking triumphs
Years ago when I cooked my first Thanksgiving (It's just a BIG chicken!) My husband and daughter are very pickey eaters so anything that they like I consider a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Over the many, many years of cooking I've had cakes flop, roasts tough, rolls burn, mushy veggies, and grills catch on fire! But it's all a learning experience.

Italian Dressing Mix
Too much salt!! Try adding some bell pepper flakes or the red and green bell pepper spice. It's a good basic recipe BUT TOO MUCH SALT!!!

Fresh Strawberry Upside Down Cake
This is a GREAT cake made as is. Next time making it use blackberries with blackberry jello or my absolute favorite is raspberries with raspberry jello. Tonight I'm going to try fresh yellow peaches and peach jello. This cake never fails and it is quick, easy and amazingly good!!

Cathy's Banana Bread
I have been making banana bread for 30 years. This bread had a good flavor however my bread was very dense and thick not light and bread like. It did have a good flavor though
