Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
This was excellent, I love tiramisu and am glad now i can make it at home. I couldn't come by ladyfingers but used slices of sponge cake placed in a 150 degree C oven for 5-10mins to harden up. The custard recipe is really top. I didn't have rum so (tentatively) substituted 1/2 brandy and 1/2 whisky - it tastes so good. Also take heed to other reviewers' advice regarding doubling the coffee/liquor mixture. Thanks for a great recipe.

Christmas Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This recipe is great. It takes a lot longer to cook (for me) than what is recommended but if you're patient, it'll come out great. I made it adhering t other users' comments about demerara sugar and soaking fruit overnight, but other than that, i kept all other ingredients exactly as written. I made it last year and although i don't christmas cake it myself, others looooved it. Made it again today for my parents, and it looks lovely.

Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
These cupcakes are great. Mine did rise, and never collapsed. I made somewhat larger cupcakes (so it only made 12) and still only had to cook them a little over 30mins. I used double-layer paper cupcake cups inside a muffin tray. These have a lovely fudge-y inside and a crunchy top like a brownie. Not your conventional cupcake but really yummy. I think these can be eaten with or without frosting, and it's a brilliant recipe for such simple ingredients.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

This was a brilliant cake. Everyone loved it. It didn't stick to the tin at all, and was wonderfully chocolate-y and moist. Thanks for the recipe! =)

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
These were fabulous cookies. What i would do though, is just keep an eye on them after they've been in the oven for 10mins, just in case they cook a bit quicker. They will still turn out fab even when slightly overcooked but ot as chewy. I baked them for my friends, and received a number of proposals and 'lizzie, i love you's. So to whomever posted this recipe: i love you, you made me look like a far more accomplished cook than i really am! :P

Baked Fudge

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This recipe was great! I'd never tried this before but it was fab. This isn't brownies, as some claimed, it had an entirely different texture. Chewy at the top (but firm top) and goey in the bottom. My kid sister loved it, as did I. And finally a recipe made from simple ingredients available world-over (my family lives in a compound in the middle east, and we don't have quite the range of products as the USA). Thank you so much for an excellent recipe. Also, to whomever rated this low because it is 'unhealthy', my apologies, but I have never heard of anyone baking any sort of dessert for the health-benefits. I believe the appeal of dessert is that it ISN'T good for you, at least that is my experience of it.

Gnocchi I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This gnocchi was excellent. I took the advice of others and only added a little flour at a time. Also DO cook the potatoes whole as you don't want then to absorb too much moisture. and make sure you mash the potatoe VERY well, so that the texture is right. It cooked quickly and tasted excellent. Thank you so much for a brilliant recipe! Also thanks must go to the genius who thought of the icing-bag thing - made the whole process so quick!
