Kofta Kebabs

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
Made these with ground beef and the spiced flavour was delicious. The cinnamon and cumin really stood out. I used extra-lean ground beef and they dried out quickly on the grill. Next time I will use moister beef/pork combo and consider adding egg/milk-soaked breadcrumbs. All in all, very flavourful. Thanks for posting!

Greek Garlic-Lemon Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
Did not make exactly as directed: subbed chicken stock for water. Why not add a little more flavour, unless going vegetarian? subbed olive oil for vegetable oil. increased oregano slightly. Let's just say that I eyeballed my measurements :). Amazing recipe: and I've passed it on to my friends. Tangy, fresh flavour. Kept me coming back for more! This is a keeper. Thank you for submitting this. ***edited to add: If you use a stock that isn't homemade, don't use the amount of salt noted in the recipe; it will be overly salty.

Quinoa Chard Pilaf

Bland, bland and more bland. That's even after I added some dried oregano and dried thyme, freshly ground black pepper and salt.

Shrimp Linguine Alfredo

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Excellent! Took others advice and doubled sauce, used heavy cream with chicken stock. Doubled cheese - will consider even more for next time. Added bell peppers, broccoli and instead of lemon slice garnish, I squeeezed a half a lemon into the sauce as per another's suggestion. Used approximately 2 tsp cornstarch to thicken sauce. Again beware: don't overcook the shrimp!

Gypsy Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
LOVE this recipe! I did as others who reviewed this recipe did: I added about three cups more chicken/veg stock. It toned down the cinnamon, so adjust for that. Also, I did not have fresh tomato on hand, so I used some of a can of crushed tomatoes. Would have preferred to use diced, but ah well. Still came out spectacularly! Had more than one guest rave. Thanks for the awesome recipe, its not leaving my recipe box anytime soon!

Pasta e Fagioli II

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Great use for leftover ham. I have made this three times so far, and I am happy with my modifications: used diced tomatoes (tried crushed tomatoes, but it made it too thick/saucy). A little extra cayenne for a bit more bite, and balsamic instead of white vinegar. Thank you for posting this great recipe!

Andrew's Herb Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
Good risotto, but suggest a change: rosemary is a very strong herb and can overpower, so reduce it by half and put it all in early so it can meld into the dish. Very easy to make. Guests raved and wanted the recipe. Thanks Andrew!

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Never buy canned baked beans again! For years I would not eat canned baked beans because they tasted so 'blah'. This recipe has great flavor and texture. I didn't change a single thing in the recipe and I love it as is. Yum!

Pork and Pepper Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2008
Either I used too many peppers and onions, or there was too little gravy - I didn't have enough. Also, if you have some chipotles in adobo sauce, add some of that instead of the paprika/jalepenos!

Fruit-Topped Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I love this recipe, and never again will I buy the store bought pancake mix! I added the baking soda to the buttermilk as one reviewer suggested, but I am fairly sure that if you mix everything together and let it rest for a half an hour, you'd have the same results. Six of one, half a dozen of the other :). Thanks for the great recipe!
