About this Cook
I got my love for cooking from my dad, and with that an affinity for experimenting with things. I'll get an idea in my head to try making something, and just do it. I love to make up my own marinades, soups, even barbecue sauces. My wife and kids hate that I don't measure or write anything down, so every new "recipe" is a one time shot. It keeps it fun for me though.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill! Especially if it's not something you usually think of cooking on the grill. One of these days I'm gonna cook a meatloaf on the grill!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My annual post-Thanksgiving turkey noodle soup.
My cooking triumphs
My turkey noodle soup, and my vegetable soup. (They did get me to measure and write down my vegetable soup once, so it can be reproduced. Tasted great, but it took all the fun out of it for me.)
My cooking tragedies
Anything involving making my own dough/pastry. I hate it because I love making things from scratch.

Corn with Bacon and Chili Powder
If everyone you're cooking for says they only want one ear, make them two anyway! They'll be begging you for more corn AND the recipe! Also great with garlic powder instead of or along with the chili powder.

Grilled Beer Chicken
If I could give this one 10 stars, I would. I've made this one about 15 times now. Usually, after 2 or 3 times, I'll change a recipe around a little just to experiment. Not this one. It's too good to fool with! Any time we discuss cooking chicken on the grill, it always comes back to this recipe.
