The pudding part of this recipe gets 5 stars for sure, but over all as a pie maybe only 4. The flavor of the vanilla pudding you pour over the bananas is divine. I'll for sure you that part of the recipe again. For the pie, I added a meringue to the top which helped alot. It allowed each slice to hold its pie shape on the plate. Without it, it would have been a blob of sliced bananas (that turn brown) and vanilla pudding in a pie crust. I used the whites to the 3 eggs in this recipes plus 5 TBS sugar for the meringue then baked 20 min at 350 then chilled for several hours. Meringue is not usually chilled, so it beaded a bit. However, if you put it on the pie while the filling is still piping hot it will cook the bottom layer faster preventing shriking and running during cooking and cooling. Overall the pie was a success....but in the end the meringue and the pudding made it...not the bananas.
