Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2003
everyone in my food co-op really loved these. i gave them a four because i thought the sun dried tomato in oil was a bit much. i'd use less next time or avoid it completely.

Baked Garlic

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2003
you cant go wrong with baked garlic. i took the advice of others and used olive oil and salt. excellent. it is true, however, it takes about 40-45 minutes to get soft.

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2003
this was my first attempt at making sauce, although i studied various types and recipes beforehand. i changed it a bit, on recommendation of other reviews and to suit my own preference. i added fresh basil (a few leaves chopped), dried rosemary (maybe a tablespoon), and some red pepper flakes (1/2 teaspoon or so) to the mixture before blending. while simmering i added about a tablespoon of sugar. i hear baking soda works, too, but i havent had a chance to try it. oh, i would use more onion next time as well, but i really like onion. impressive sauce.

African Curry

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2003
If you love bland food you'll love this recipe. I didn't trust the other negative reviews because I thought the ingredients sound okay. I was very wrong. I doubled the garlic and curry and added cayenne and a bunch of salt, still no luck. If you really want a great coconut milk / curry dish try the VIETNAMESE STYLE VEGETARIAN CURRY SOUP (I'm sure you can add meat if you'd like).

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
too mediocre after all the hype. cookies did come out big though. i used almond extract instead of vanilla, that was somewhat of a mistake, the almond is overpowering. but, even without that, these cookies aren't extremely exciting.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2003
Excellent falafel when all is said and done. I doubled (at least) the garlic and added more lemon juice, but it really was great. Cucumber sauce was quick, simple, and pretty good.

Vietnamese Style Vegetarian Curry Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2003
A fine curry stew. I didnt have kaffir lime leaves or lemon grass so I substituted lemon and lime zest, I'm sure its not up to par, but it worked out anyway. I would, however, suggest using more coconut milk, a tablespoon of sugar, and some much needed salt. Otherwise, A+ all around.

Excellent meal. I bought paneer, making my life easier. I dont have a food processor so I just chopped it all and modified where necessary, it still great.
