Cooky Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
I think this is an excellent recipe as a start for someone who has never prepared cookies before. So yes, this was my first time baking cookies! I found this recipe very easy, as well very flexible and "beginner friendly". Everything went smoothly, except something I did wrong, and I repeat here because even though it's said on the instructions, it might not seem that obvious for someone who tries to bake cookies for the first time: Be careful with the amount of dough you pour on the cookie paper for each cookie! without pretending it, I ended up with monster sized cookies :-) As well they became a bit too greasy. I wonder what could be made to prevent it. That's all. Very nice overall.

Bodega Bay Cioppino

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
super simple to make, and spectacular results. Recommended for everyone. Even if you live in a place where you cannot get fresh seafood often, do it with frozen seafood! the result will be a little worse but still very good.

Spicy Vegetarian Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Nice recipe, very good concept, but in my opinion a bit more of vegetable variation would have made it much better. For example, rather than putting three different kinds of pepper, put instead some zuchinni, eggplant... would have added a welcome variation. I liked the cheese sauce, but for a much creamier result, bechamel sauce would be best. Still, good work.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Very easy to prepare, surprisingly good taste (to be honest, I wasn't expecting THAT good) and very flexible recipe: you can replace ingredients, add more... and still remains very tasty. And a little hint: today my wife had a dentist visit, so she couldn't eat very well. We put this soup leftovers in the electric mixer and made a cream. She said that the cream was much nicer than the actual soup!

Hearty Halibut Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
A warm, cheesy and spicy chowder. Comfort food doesn't get any better than this! The first time I tried this recipe I ate together with a person who wasn't very hungry, so she left a big amount of her plate. I was like "Excellent! more for me!" so I ended up eating three whole servings of this magnificent chowder.

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
I start this review explaining that I live in Spain, so I have only been exposed to the european type of pancake (what french would call crêpe, I guess) so I had never ever before tried the american version. I decided to give it a go with this oatmeal variation, and my only thought is: mom2hhh, whoever you are, and wherever you live, I love you! Thank you for helping me to discover this awesome type of pancake, much easier to prepare than the french crêpe or the russian blinis, and equally superb. Now my only risk is to abuse this recipe and prepare it every single day!

Bacon Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2010
Very rich chowder. I loved the combination of the ingredients. I replaced water and used chicken broth instead. As well, you have to be careful of draining the bacon very well, or else the chowder becomes very greasy in the bad sense of the word. Anyways I liked it, and with minor changes, I will keep doing this recipe more times.

BBQ Chicken Pizza II

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
Like many others, I couldn't believe that such a simple recipe would turn out so great. Just by starting with a simple layer of barbeque sauce, then a mix of fried green and red pepper with onion, bits of grilled chicken and a final layer of cheese, I got one of the best homemade pizzas ever. For sure I will make it again!
