I am a thirty something wife and mother who has recently become interested in all types of cooking and baking. I have two wonderful children, ages 8 and 6, as well a fabulous husband of almost 12 years. I am a physical therapist at a nursing home close to my home. I love my work but also enjoy being in the kitchen all day creating new dishes. My family has been very supportive of my new hobby and have enjoyed the benefits of my time in the kitchen. It is a great feeling to have someone thoroughly enjoy something you have made.
My favorite things to cook
I originally became interested in All Recipes because I was bored of the same old dishes for dinner. I really focused on expanding my repetoire of main dishes including chicken, beef and pork. Now my family complains because I rarely make the same thing twice. I now enjoy baking and making elaborate desserts. I guess the question is what don't I like to cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A new tradition I have started with my daughter and mother is to do holiday baking the weekend of deer hunting mid November. The guys go up north and the girls hang out all weekend in the kitchen. We also do big elaborate meals at our home for Thanksgiving and Christmas with all 4 of my siblings. I love to be in the kitchen with all three of my younger sisters. I am also happy my 8 year old daughter has caught the cooking bug.
My cooking triumphs
My extended family raves about my herb encrusted pork loin with honey dijon sauce. I have successfully made chocolate mousse from scratch and have mastered meringes.
My cooking tragedies
I cannot make hashbrowns to save my life. It is a joke in my family. They always turn to mush.
