Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
This pie was awesome!! It has a beautiful texture, like a store bought pie. But this one tastes a thousand times better. It's just beautiful to slice, as the filling doesn't just squish out.

Banana Caramel Fluff

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
Made this for dessert tonight. I was super excited about this as I have a ton if bananas that need to be eaten. I added about 3 TBSP of mini chocolate chips, and chopped up 5 or 6 caramels and threw them in the banana mix. I then kinda gathered up the edges of the crescent dough over the banana mixture. Bake for about 14-15 minutes til golden on top. They smelled great, but they tasted like baby food. The bananas turned to mush. Maybe I would try and make a banana cream pie in it next time? I'm gonna play around and see what happens. Overall this wa a quick and fairly good dessert, but definately not a keeper. :(

Autumn Spice Ham Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
OMG! this was amazing!!! We ate it all. And everyone loved it. I used real maple syrup, and 2 gala apples peeled, cored and sliced. I cooked The steak until browner, removed it while I cooked the apples in butter and cinnamon for. Few minutes. Took them out, put steak back and added apples on top. Then poured syrup over it all wig about 1/4 cup of water. Covered and simmered for 18 minutes or so. And!!!!! ADD HORSERADISH! it was amazing with the spicy tang of horseradish and sweet of syrup. Amazing!!!!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
This is a great recipe! It's a fav in my family. I don't use onions, and add extra cheese. Make sure you spray the dish before baking, 9x13 works great so the potatoes cook all the way through. I add some mustard powder, and sometimes cooked bacon. So good!

Peanut Butter Marshmallow Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2011
I made these just as the recipe said, and they are super tasty! Creamy, sugary, and nutty. I think the flavors go well together, surprisingly so. I think I would like to try making again with peanuts instead of walnuts, and maybe toasting the coconut, and another batch without nuts and coconut. Just to get a good feel for it all! Yummy!

Pull-Apart Garlic Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
I haven't quite finished these buns, but I forgot to dd the egg. I was a little concerned that they wouldn't turn out, but another reviewer said they forgot eggs and it turned out fine! I added cheese to the dough, and dipped in melted garlic butter. (melted butter, onion pwdr, garlic salt, finely chopped garlic, and parsley) and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I will put on cheese just before baking. Update: they turned out a little heavier without the egg. But try tasted awesome! Thanks! :)

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2010
I make this often, and it is well loved in my house. I sometimes dont add sliced mushrooms, or the potato chips because I dont have them on hand. I have also made it without onion, and it is STILL good! The cheese is a must have. I like to sprinkle quite a bit on top. I sometimes add about 1/4 cup of milk just to make it creamier, it does cook up quite thick. OH I also just use regular noodles. Whatever I happen to have. AND I use a cup of mixed frozen vegetables. It goes very well with it!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
Ok, now i havent tasted it yet. Saving it for an Easter dinner tomorrow. BUT I did follow all the suggestions so it wouldnt crack. Mine STILL cracked. I used room temp ingrediants, I did bake it in a water bath, put 2 layers of foil around my springform, and let it bake for 60 minutes, used a buttered knife to seperate the cheesecake and the pan then let it sit in the oven for 5 hours. IT STILL CRACKED! What else could I have done!!! Not only did it crack, but I also got WATER in the bottom of my crust. Now if my crust is mushy tomorrow....I will NOT be impressed... So my crust was not only mushy, but completely inedible. I understand it was not the recipe's fault, as I followed reviews instead of sticking to the tried, tested and true recipe. I know better for next time, because there WILL be a next time. The cheesecake itself turned out fantastic. Very creamy, and rich and good. I do not reccomend putting it in a water bath. Mine cracked anyways, plus it leaked water in my crust, and made the crust horrible.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2010
I made these last night for supper and it turned out fantatic! I cut a center loin roast into chops.I did not have crackers, so I used a mix of Panko bread crumbs, regular bread crumbs and some casear bread crumbs that I threw in the food processor until it was crumbs. I also forgot to add the butter (oops...) while baking, so I threw it in after I took the foil off. I also baked my chops for 45 with foil and 15 without. SO good! We could cut them with just forks! I served with honey mustard, it went very well.

I havent made the icing yet, but I will! Thanks for such a choco-holic dream! I made the icing, and it just makes it THAT much better. Such a fab brownie for a serious choco-holic. LOVE it!

Triple Dipped Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
This was very good chicken. I made this for my husbands birthday and he really liked it. I used chicken boobs with back attatched. I used beer instead of water. It was very crispy, and looked like KFC chicken. It did not, however, taste quite as good. I think it needs more flavor. I heard of using dry italian dressing mix, so I will give that a shot next time. Or maybe just more spices. Possibly more paprika, salt and pepper, oregano, poultry seasoning, garlic and onion powder....

Made this as a request for my husbands birthday. It turned out very good! It was really thick with the 2 round cakes and the filling. Probably close to 12 inches high! Difficult to cut, but excellent to eat.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
I have made this as is, and I have also tried letting it rise and whatnot. I really liked that I could whip this up in no time without waiting for rising, and also if I plan on pizza I can make it earlier and let it rise. Definately a keeper.

Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
I made this with apple/grape juice (because I didnt have wine or plain apple juice) and it turned out fab! My chicken fell apart, and it was juicy. I used garlic powder, salt, pepper for season. Served with dill mashed potatos and corn. The mushroom sauce worked AWESOME as a gravy. Even my kids loved it!

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
I did a no-no and made my pie kinda differently. I didnt put the crumble on it, I put another crust on top. Other than that I followed the recipe closely. I mixed the apple with cinnamon, sugar and flour. I dotted with butter put the crust on top and baked it at 400 for about 25 minutes, turned down to 350 and baked for about 25 more. Excellent!

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
I just made this today. FIRST WEAR GLOVES!!!!! I cannot stress enough, you HAVE to wear gloves. Maybe I got a really crazy batch of jalapenos, but my hands have burned for HOURS. Second, watch carefully and use a BIG pot. I only used a 4qt, and it boiled over. It is not easy to clean up syrup on a ceramic stovetop. Other than that, I followed to a T. Turned out great, looks fantastic with the specks of red and green. If you do happen to not use gloves, I found scrubbing your hands with a nail brush SUPER well, and with rather hot water for rinsing. After that, rub those owie fingers on stainless steel. YES, your sink, you spoons, your pots. It DOES work, at least for me...

Christmas Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
I made this for breakfast this past Christmas, and it was great! SO easy to assemble the night before, and just throw it in the oven in the morning! My family of 5 devoured the whole pan. My only concern was a little to salty, but I DID use a whole pack of bacon. My husband thought it was The Best!
