My baby and me!
About this Cook
I am a pretty laid back kinda girl who loves to have fun and loves to learn new things. I have just recently discovered my love of cooking, baking, and hosting parties... after my first party with my husband's friends, they all mentioned to me that I should get into catering and I am now practising and preparing myself for that possibility. And now that I'm a mom, I'm constantly looking for new things to make to keep things interesting not only for myself and my husband, for our child/children as well.
My favorite things to cook
Anything! I'm always looking for new recipes to try, I follow those to the letter the first couple times, then I change things around to make them fit MY tastes and make it my own. So far my husband and family are loving everything I make, which is great news to me!! :-D
My favorite family cooking traditions
Well, my family is a huge grilling family, so once the warm weather hits, the stove and oven are rarely used other than to make potato salads and such, everything else is done on the grill, thanks to my hubby! Next year I plan on getting my son into helping me bake holiday goodies with me, so that will be interesting haha.
My cooking triumphs
THANKSGIVING DINNER!!! Thanksgiving of 2008 was my very first Thanksgiving to make the entire meal ever! And it was a huge success!! My family turned to me and pretty much told me to not change a thing and that I've got my Thanksgiving menu for the rest of my Thanksgiving dinner cooking life, haha.
My cooking tragedies
Haven't really had any (knocks on wood).

Easy Iced Coffee
OMG!! LOVE IT!!! I LOVE coffee, but can't drink it due to my religion. So to avoid the temptation I can now make this but with Postum instead of with coffee... just tried it, and it's perfect! Delicious taste... everything I loved about the iced lattes and coffees from Starbucks... my hubby is grateful as well... will save almost $4 a day now that I can make it at home! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies
These cookies were just OK. I followed the recipe exactly and I find these cookies a little dry and bland. I'm thinking if I do make these again, I might try to use the Honey Roasted crunchy peanut butter instead of the plain peanut butter to give it more flavor.

Sushi Roll
this was... ok. I LOVE sushi but the rice was too sweet. And authentically, you don't put pickled ginger INSIDE the sushi... and! NO on the dipping it in teriyaki sauce and wasabi... gotta be soy sauce and wasabi. Nice attempt though.
