Italian Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
I was pretty disappointed in this soup, although my family loved it. I wanted more of a vegetable soup, and it was a bit too much meat for my liking. However, my sons and husband liked it alot as they are big meat eaters. I also followed the other reviews and added more water than called for (3 cups more) and it still was too thick for me and more like a stew than a soup. I would also suggest not putting the cabbage in until about 5 minutes before the soup is done as it was overcooked as was the pasta. Next time, I will definitely use half of the meat. And add more fresh (not canned as we live in California and eating canned vegetables is nasty) vegetables. I would as some mushrooms, and some zuchinni. I think this is a great base soup, but it can definitely be better than the reviews say it was.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
This is the best stuffing of all time. I make it every year, and people expect me to make it. They love it. It is delicious and never disappoints. I never include the gizzards, and it tastes just as delicious. I cook it in a pyrex dish outside the bird. You can't go wrong making this.

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I am not sure if it was this bring as I have never brined my turkey before, or if we had a bad bird, but our turkey did not taste good. I have never had a bad bird from this specialty butcher before, so I am going to blame the brine. It was not good and we paid $85.00 for the bird. Pretty disappointing.

Arkansas Green Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
It is not that this dish isn't delisious...because it is. Everyone ate it, but I cut the sugar in half and I still felt like I was on a sugar high after eating it. It was way too sweet, and if you are going to be serving a vegetable dish during Thanksgiving when you have alot of other sweets on the table, it could be the thing that puts you right over the edge. I would choose a healthier dish to make than this. But, if you just want a vegetable on your dinner table that your kids will eat, and there are not other sweet items competing, this is a great dish.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
I read the comments on this recipe, and followed the directions to a T. Unfortunately, this was the most difficult pie crust I have ever made. It kept falling apart over and over again, and was a mess. With butter, or without, freezing cold or not. I use All recipes all the time, and this is the first time I have ever rated a recipe below 4 stars.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
I was really disappointed with this recipe. First.... a crock pot dinner should not take this much work just to get into the crock pot.. The point of a crock pot is to put it in and go. You have to cook for about 30 minutes before you get it into the crock pot... not helpful when you're working. Secondly, it says to cook on low for 6-8 hours. 6 Hours would probably be the best, at 8 hours, you pretty much have sludge to eat. My family could not figure out what they were eating. I love cabbage, but I won't make this again.

Nancy's Chicken in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Very good dish! Easy to make. The only change I would make would be to use puff pastry sheets rather than shells as they would be easier to work with. The shells barely covered the chicken and I had to dice the chicken which worked out better. I might add a little garlic to the chicken as well before putting the creme cheese in.

My family was not crazy about this recipe. It was more work for a slow cooker recipe than it was worth.

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
This recipe is way too high in far for the taste. I would decrease the amount of potatoes to 4 pounds. And use lowfat cheese and sour creme. It isn't as good as it should be for the amount of ingredients. I would also another cup of ham. I probably wouldn't make this again.

Vegetable Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
This recipe was far over rated. I was very disappointed. It was bland and had no taste. My children usually eat my soup, and they didn't like this. It needs more spices. This should be rated more a one or a two instead of a 4. I would get another recipe for vegetable soup, and pass this one up.
