When I add vegetables, I saute green onions, carrots, and garlic in oil. Then add the rice (I prefer basmati or jasmine) and saute until translucent. Then add chicken broth, bring to a boil, then let simmer until almost done. In the last few moments, I add chopped cilantro (to taste). Great rice!
