I'm a super busy college student genuinely interested in just about everything. I've been helping my grandparents cook for as long as I can remember (they used to record episodes of "Heather's Kitchen" when I was little), but have only really gotten into cooking on my own in the past few years.
My favorite things to cook
I looove to bake! Cookies and brownies are my forte, but I really love making anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is big on tomato sauce, homemade pizzas, lasagnas, soups... We've basically always all helped out with the cooking.
My cooking triumphs
My mom had to work this past Christmas, so for the first time I was stuck cooking pretty much the entire dinner. It was pretty brutal, and we had a bunch of (surprise!) extra guests, but everyone ate everything to the very last crumb. Victory!
My cooking tragedies
Ohhh boy. My first few times making muffins and breads were pretty tragic, since I overpour batter like it's my job.

Adobo Chicken with Ginger
Oh yum! Really, really good recipe! I was a little skeptical about the ginger, since the chicken adobo I've always made never called for it, but it brought the dish to a whole new level. Plus, the whole kitchen smelled SO good all night after making it. Do add the chopped sweet onion, though!

Japanese Zucchini and Onions
So easy and delicious! I didn't even use any oil; I just sprayed some cooking spray into my wok for the onions and added a bit of water midway through. Thanks for the great recipe!

Mulligatawny Soup I
Sooo delicious! My family had never tasted anything with curry flavor, and they adored this soup. I used chicken thighs (I already had them) cut into very small cubes, which turned out wonderfully, and brown rather than white rice added along with the chicken broth had a great texture. Throughout the simmering stages, I added water in 1/2 cup increments to get the right consistency. Using a whole apple and throwing in some raisins really made the soup fabulous. Can't wait for leftovers!
