About this Cook
I began cooking at an early age. I always enjoyed helping my parents, grandmother, and godmother in the kitchen. Cooking is one of my creative passions. I'm happy to share my love of cooking, and family recipes with my daughter.
My favorite things to cook
EVERYTHING...I'll try anything once. Southern/Soul cooking is probably most dear to my heart.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in a household in which, both my mom and dad cooked. My mom cooked M-Th(we always went out for dinner on Friday),and my dad took over on the weekend. Family dinner was "our" time together.
My cooking triumphs
I'm not quite sure that I've had any cooking triumphs. I better come back to this one:)
My cooking tragedies
I just cook...rarely do I follow a recipe, word for word :)Baking of course, would be the only exception. However a great recipe, is always wonderful inspiration.

Simple Chicken Brine
This is a great foundation kind of recipe. You can add your own touch. I agree with Nox,COLD is the way to go. I used brown sugar, garlic and onion powder. A few shakes of crushed red pepper, added a little kick.I will never roast another chicken, turkey etc. without brining it first.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews
This was really good. I substituted white vinegar, for tarragon vinegar. Yummy and couldn't be easier !

Real New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp
This recipe brings back some great vacation memories. I adore New Orleans. Worth every calorie and gram of fat :)
