Saturday afternoon I was completely speechless, surprised, and shocked.  I think by the look on my face everyone would agree!  Let me start from the beginning..... A few months ago Marianne had decided she had so much fun at the Vegas Round Up she would host another So Cal gathering.  When she… MORE

About this Cook
About me...well cooking has been apart of my life since I can remember. My grandma used to make EVERYTHING from scratch. My favorite pastime when visiting, was watching her make cinnamon rolls. I didn't start a passion for cooking, however, until I started dating the man I would marry. He loved to eat and I thought the way to his heart has got to be through his stomach, right?!?!? Well, it worked! We had our first child Dec. 2013 and I am looking forward to making his baby food and finding out what he likes and doesn't like. I can't wait to teach him how to cook, but at the same time don't want to rush his growing up either! :) Cooking relaxes me, like a good book. I love making a mess but hate cleaning it up!
My favorite things to cook
Its always evolving and forever changing! I've found I have a knack for finding really great appetizers for special events and I'd rather cook than bake. I love pairing cheeses with wine and having people over to try them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother was from Germany and made some amazing dishes. The two I remember helping her with the most were her meat balls and German chocolate cake. I've started my own traditions with my husband now, I love making Irish Soda Bread each year for St. Patty's Day, a nod to his family history. We've also decided to take on Thanksgiving, so far we've been quite successful!
My cooking tragedies
Definitely have had my share!

Fajita Seasoning
At the last minute my husband decided he wanted fajitas for dinner last night. I found this recipe and decided to give it a try. However, it was just okay for us. It didn't really have the fajita seasoning taste I was looking for. Easy to make but still on the hunt for a go to fajita seasoning recipe.

Chicken Garlic Pizza
We really liked the flavor combination of this recipe! Per other reviews I doubled the butter sauce and added a bit more garlic to the sauce. LOVED how it tasted on the pizza! I already had shredded chicken from another recipe I had made and we added a little bit of mozzarella cheese with the ricotta because....well we just love cheese! This is a great recipe if your looking for a different type of pizza. Can't wait to make it again!

Old Italian Meat Sauce
What a great sauce! I made a few changes due to what I had on hand and the recipe was still family pleasing. Instead of pork I had Italian sausage and ground beef...loved the flavor the Italian sausage added. And we omitted the mushrooms due to personal preference, I also cut back on the wine a bit. I don't mind wine in my dishes but I felt the 2 cups more before you simmer seemed a bit much. The sauce was still so hearty and flavorful. I think this will be my go to meat sauce recipe. YUM!
