Pan Pierogies

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2004
I found this recipe quite tasty and it was a huge hit! I used the no boil lasagna noodle& homemade mashed potstoes. In my potatoes I used a bit of garlic powder, salt & pepper. I also added French's fried onions to my potato mixture, and added them to the top along with the cheese! I will be making this again!

Black Joe Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2004
What a surprise to find this recipe! This cake is a family favorite in my family, except we call it "Ol' Black Joe". My Grandmother who always made this just recently passed away and I have now been made the offical maker of the "Ol' Black Joe" for all of our family functions. My recipe is a slight bit different. 3 cups sugar 6 Tbsp melted shortening 3/4 cup cocoa 1 1/2 cup sour milk (you can sour the milk by adding 2 tbsp lemon juice) 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 3/4 cup hot water 3 cups flour 1 tbsp vanilla put in greased and floured baking pan, and then bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe :)

Pennsylvania Dutch Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2003
I too grew up eating this cake, and this recipe took me right back to my childhood. It was quite yummy and lots of fun to make! Thanks for sharing :) I know it says that it tastes better without frosting, but I used a recipe for buttercream icing submitted by Sharon Gerstman and it was a wonderful combination!!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2002
This was a huge hit at a friend's 4th of July picnic!! Yummy :) I used store bought tortilla chips...gave them a light spray with cooking spray, then added the cinammon and sugar mixture, and popped in the oven at 350 degrees for a bit just to crisp them back up!! Can't wait to make it again!!
