About this Cook
I've been married to my husband for 33 years. We both love to cook! I like to read, travel, and quilt. We have two naughty cats, and live a quiet life. There is never enough room in the kitchen when we both want to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake bread and I have finally mastered stir-fry! I like to find the "master" recipe for things, and then experiment with my own versions. Kitchen chemistry fascinates me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Swedish grandmother baked cookies every Christmas season. We try to do the same, some of her old recipes are stand-bys...We only have desserts for Sunday, is that tradition? On Easter, nut rolls, ham and potato salad...Both my husband and I go for non-traditional meals for special events. If we have guests, they always get something we've never tried before...guests are our guinea pigs!:-) They love it!
My cooking triumphs
Baklava! King Cake! Kung Pao Chicken!
My cooking tragedies
One time I made Stir Fried Liver. Everyone at the table remained silent as they took the first bite. Without a word, I got out of my seat, went to the phone, and called for take-out cheeseburgers! We still laugh about that meal.

Baron's Blackberry Cobbler
The best cobbler ever! I didn't change a thing. It baked for 55 minutes and it was perfect. My husband picked the berries earlier in the day, from a wild patch in our yard, and had to scare away a bear who loved the berries too. We served it warm with whipped cream. Thanks, Baron!

Spicy Vegan Potato Curry
This was really yummy and easy to make for a Sunday lunch. I cut back on the spices, as my husband is not a spicy fan...But I should have gone full-bore with this! Next time I make it I will use all the spice called for...I used left-over baked potatoes so I skipped that step. I think I could add some other vegies next time, and serve it with rice. I minced up some leftover cilantro to garnish the top...Very good recipe. My friend made this recipe also, and he used squash cubes instead of the potatoes...He loved that variation too.

Braised Balsamic Chicken
Tried this tonight, and it was delish...I got it started in a pan, as directed, but put it in a baking dish to finish it in the oven...I used thighs, and cut the recipe in half! We will be making this again. My husband says it will be one of our "go-to" recipes. Even with my customization of this recipe, it is a keeper.
