Wings with Mint Leaves and Honey

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
YUM YUM YUM. I just cooked the wings and dripped honey over them after they were done and put a fresh mint leaf on top. It was absolutely wonderful...

Snakes in a Blanket

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
I had a lot to make so I just rolled these like sushi rolls cut in smaller pieces and baked like that. They came out beautiful but not enough flavor. O think they needed a nice dipping sauce to go along. THE KIDS loved them, and that's always good.

Ensalada Roja con Pollo (Red Salad with Chicken)

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
I was looking all over the web for this recipe since I grew up in Venezuela... I finally found it here! The funny thing is, I have an account here and didn't come up when I looked up beets and hard-boiled eggs. :( Oh well, I's so happy you have it! It tastes just like what I grew up with, I only omitted the pickles and pickle juice and added a little vinegar instead. I had never heard of pickles until I came here so I am SURE my mom didn't used to put them in there. Thanks so much!!! (PS I still remember my kindergarten class making me bring 2 hard-boiled eggs so we could make this together

Amy's Sensational Summer Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
AMAZING salad!! I didn't have italian dressing so I just grilled the chicken with garlic powder. I loved it and so did everyone else in our family... and they're "ranch dressing" people. Thanks so much!

Steamed Walleye (Pickerel) on the Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
DELICIOUS! Here in Texas it's a little hard to find walleye so I used cod since it is nice and flaky too. I would suggest serving it with fresh lemon at the end as well, since most of the lemon flavor cooks away and it's soooo yummy. Also, when opening the pouches, make sure you have them over the plate so the juices don't drip everywhere (and because you don't want to waste them).

Avocado Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
To be fair, I have never had avocado ice cream... if I loved avocado ice cream this would have gotten all 5 stars. I decided to try it out of curiosity and because I love avocado. It was similar to green tea ice cream in the way that it is not very heavy and borders on savory. VERY VERY interesting.

Apricot Chicken II

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
WEll, let me just preface by saying that we love sweet and savory combinations and my husband added a bit more brown sugar than suggested, but I still found it way too sweet. It reminded me a lot of chinese style sesame chicken, so next time I think I will just add a bit more vinegar and use balsamic, and turn it into a healthy version of the chinese favorite

Aji de Gallina

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2008
I used to have a maid that made the best Aji de Gallina EVER! and i've been looking for a recipe that was similar this is the closest I have found. It does take a lot of time but it is soooo yummy. I know she used to put OCOPE in it instead of turmeric but I wasn't able to find either. :( I would put a little less cheese and maybe a little more chicken stock to make it more like the one I used to have but it was very yummy just make sure you have time to put into it!

Oklahoma Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
Absolutely perfect. This is our 4th or 5th attempt at making a brisket... we did cook it for 3 hours at 250, then an extra hour at 300. The best brisket I have ever had. Thanks so much for sharing!

Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
I made it to a "T" and it was very runny :( The juices came out while baking and dripped all over the oven. Next time I will use a little more flour, but overall it was very good flavor. I used the Simple Flaky Pie Crust from this site... just wonderful.

Colonel Jackson's Smothered Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2011
As an experienced cook, I am assuming the reason you make a roux is to slowly introduce the liquid so it thickens (and reduces). That way, the vinegar cooks out. I did it exactly the same except for I only cut the chicken into 4. And I didn't have red pepper flakes :(. Thanks so much and we will definitely make again

Asparagus Chicken Crepes

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
I think this recipe was very good but I honestly don't think I will be making it again. It seemed very heavy and we tend to eat a lot lighter... good flavors but one crepe per person with a salad on the side will be plenty

Honey Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2008
I had never heard of dipping the chicken in honey before the flour... this was amazing! I will definitely be making this again. I did put the honey in a bowl and heated it up for about 10 seconds so it would be more liquid and it worked great. It tastes just like Tyson's Honey Battered Chicken. And it's homemade. Absolutely perfect... oh and just as a tip, Tyson pre-cooks this and then freezes. We may want to try that, so quick food later in the week.

Crescent Pizza Pockets

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
Sooooo fast to make, and the kids will love it. It is definitely the type of meal you need on one of those days you forget to cook and then realize its an hour until bedtime. I would suggest salting the top of the pocket before baking, and don't be stingy on the cheese.

Teri Tips

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
OK OK So I didn't cut it up... I just felt terrible doing that to such an amazing cut of meat. It was wonderful just grilled to medium rare after marinating just like suggested. I didn't think the sauce was that amazing, but overall a very successful dish... thanks so much for using real ingredients!!!

Mango Chicken with Greens

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
This was very sweet, the sauce has the consistency of an applesauce and it has pretty good flavor, I just don't know how much it's worth the work. I did it without the greens or raisins and used regular strips instead of drumsticks.
