About this Cook
Newlywed on a budget. I use allrecipes.com to help plan meals for the week. I've been able to make our grocery budget (for 2 people) $50/wk. Yes I still have meats, seafood, and fresh veggies. We usually go to Aldis for groceries, then whatever I need that they don't sell we get from Meijer's. It take a lot of preplanning, but it's worth it and fun! My motivation besides the savings is keeping my husband out of the kitchen on days I work (he's a fabulous cook, but makes a big mess)...
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry, baking bread and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every New Years Day I have Pumpkin soup!
My cooking triumphs
Making the hottest hot wings my husband's ever had. :O) At some point I'll post the recipe. Also, Budgeting and keeping a clean kitchen (no matter what I'm cooking)
My cooking tragedies
Serving my then bf now husband a refried bean and feta cheese with egg and fish casserole. It smelt like garbage, but he still ate it. LoL I guess he really liked me :o) The dish was a result of my trying to translate my french cookbook measurements and all while also substituting many of the items with things that I had in my fridge. Needless to say I use english cookbooks now and almost always follow recipes to the letter.

Garlic Parmesan Chicken
Very easy to make. Tasted great! Simple ingredients. Not sure if I liked the onions all that much... but my husband did. I'll definitely make this again... any suggestions on what to do with all the extra bread crumbs?

French Leek Pie
I used half and half to make it a little less fatty. The custard didn't set quite as well probably due to that, but it was still a great dish... Kiinda felt like it was missing something. I think next time I will make it with some dark meat turkey.
