Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
I did follow the recipe as stated, EXCEPT i added butterscotch chips in place of chocolate, because my hunny came home from his buddies house where his buddies wife had made banana muffins the same. He has been begging me to make them, so I made them today. He's claimed the whole pan and treating it like a precious commodity. lol!!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2009
oh my! this was good. my changes were: I used a half jar of salsa- i forgot tomatoes, and added a full can of black beans. I loved every bit of it. I baked the oiled tortillas whole, stacked them all in a serving bowl, and cracked them all by pushing them down. nice soup!!

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
yep, these were very good! I did increase the baking soda and powder a bit, but I don't know why people don't like these! If they don;t rise, you maybe over worked them, I hardly handled mine except for shaping them quick and putting on the pan. Or, your baking powder could be ineffective- buy some new stuff. And don't let it touch moisture while storing or using! My family loved them with Chicken a la King over top. Good recipe where you have leftover chicken and need a fast supper!!

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
This is sooooooo good. I will never make it again just for us, because there's too much of it and we will eat it ALL...But its great to take to a meal or BBQ and have the recipe ready, because everyone will ask you for it.

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
Yep, this is worth the ratings. I did clean out my fridge of veggies, and had no zucchini, but it was still really good. I added cooked Tortellini noodles. I also added some leftover "kubideh" -chopped up and put in the bottom of the bowl, with hot soup poured over top. It made a nice decent amount, so I was able to feed the four of us, have some for lunch the next day, and still freeze half for another week. THANKS!!

Inside Out Ravioli II

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
This was a HIT. I added minced garlic, some herbs, parmesan instead of cheddar, and a can of chopped tomatoes. I broke up lasagna noodles and boiled them to al dente, stirred them in. (I had no shells.) it was allot like ravioli this way. I have to hand it to you... my skinny, super-fussy 4 yr old CLEANED HER PLATE!! My 7 yr old and my husband really, REALLY enjoyed this too.

Persian Sabzi Polo (Herb Rice with Fava Beans)

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
I've made this recipe a while ago, and I thought it was a good Persian rice dish. But, I noticed that one person used dried beans? Dried bean have to be soaked overnight and also cooked before you can do anything with them! Unfortunately they gave the recipe one star for having a failed recipe when they used, hard dried beans. And the rice is supposed to be slightly stuck, I usually just slide something under it and then place it back on top of the serving dish of rice. Does anyone have any tips to offer for the best crust? ie: type of pan/wrapping lid in a tea towel?

Mack's Tunaburgers

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2008
Chris, this is so yummy! thanks for the awesome recipe! I forgot to add the hot pepper sauce, but that's OK because my super-picky 4 yr old loved it. Even my husband, who hates anything to do with fish, said "these are actually really good!" So I make a batch of 5, then cook them and chill them for lunch sandwiches. I'll share this recipe with everyone I know.

Pizza On The Grill I

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
This was really good... it was 40 above here today, and I needed a good bbq recipe. I kept my heat on low- cuz i was worried about burning- (but I also bought the pizza crusts- which I won't do again- I'm gonna make the dough next time.)I added some leftover cooked, chopped chicken breast. I cooked my red peppers on the grill first, then chopped them. I added chiffonaded (sp?)spinach for the heck of it. I took a picture of it on the grill, and one afterwards. ONE suggestion- use pizza sauce- this recipe says tomato sauce, but its too bland. I sprinkled greek seasoning on, as I was out of Italian to boost that. But real pizza sauce would be a good thing to have. I WILL BE making this agian a few times. Thanks for the recipe!!

Polish Cabbage Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
uh-oh... this is way too yummy. I am definitely going to use another's suggestion of using chicken broth to cut down on the butter... and I like the paprika idea as well!!! I used a package of coleslaw mix- that saved lots of time for cutting and frying...they cooked real fast.

Daddy's Popcorn

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
THIS is the popcorn I grew up on!! My mom made it just like this all the time...sometimes she would just sprinkle on some garlic salt. I do cut down on the amount of fat used, just like another viewer recommended. I can't beleive I have been using microwave all this time.. I'm glad I stumbled across your recipe to get me back in the groove of making REAL popcorn. Now if I could just find some big paper grocery bags.. they're not easy to find around here!!

Rice with Black Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Hmmm what to make... I'm getting low on groceries but too busy to go get some... This was good. I used the recipe as a base, as I didn't quite have the exact ingredients. I added Greek seasoning for flavor, used brown rice, and added stewed tomatoes. This filled me up, and I wasn't hungry for a long time, either -It did wonders for my low blood sugar tendency!! All those complex carbs... This is now a favorite of mine.

Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
I found this to be very bitter- so I added a pinch of baking soda, to wipe that out, and then some coconut cream for a bit of richness. I liked it much better after that. Thanks for the great recipe! I will enjoy making this again!
