Golompke (Beef and Cabbage Casserole)

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
Excellent recipe! I especially liked the use of the coleslaw mix, which I was kind of sceptical about.. It was a fantastic dish! Everyone wanted more - I will never make traditional cabbage rolls again. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the lack of seasoning, I added paprika, dill weed, salt & pepper and a can of whole plum tomatoes with juices. I plan to play with this one quite a bit, different meats, veggies etc. Thanks for posting!

YUMMMMMMMMMMM! Don't change a thing! (Also, Gyros are Greek pita sandwiches with beef/lamb filling and a special cucumber sauce called: Tzatziki.)

Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
People who are saying that this was burnt and chewy.. listen up! lol you can't reduce the size of the cut to accomodate less people and NOT change the cooking time as well! 1 reviewer wrote that she calculated for 4 people, which is only 1.5Lbs of brisket - then it states that she still cooked it for 24 hours!! Of course it was leathery and inedible - reduce the cooking length too!. This is a 5 star recipe when done properly. I did add some chipotle and some hot cayenne sauce to counter the sweetness.

Panzanella Panini

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
YUMMMMM!! I just bought a panini maker and this was my 1st test project, it's a keeper!! I followed the recipe exactly right up until I was about to put it on the grill.. then, being the meat-eater that I am, I decided that and it needed some proscuitto. I added 2 super thin slices to the sandwich and then grilled it.. WOW! a flavour sensation! I'll be taking one to work at least once a week for a nice easy lunch!

Kafta (BBQ)

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
Delicious! I have been making this recipe almost exactly for yrs. I used to work for a Lebanese family and was introduced to this at a BBQ they were having. The only difference is that they added a little bit of fresh mint, they taste great with or without though. The traditional way to eat these, I was told.. is to hold it in the middle of a pita bread and slide the skewer out while gripping.. top it with cucumber, tomato, onion, sour cream/yogurt/tzitzki sauce etc. As stated by other reviewers this recipe also makes excellent burgers and meatballs!! I've also made these with my favourite hamburger recipe and served on hotdog buns with bacon, cheese and other more traditional burger toppings, gr8 for kids!

Kona Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
Excellent!!! With some adjustments, as suggested by many reviewers. I used 1/2 the soy sauce, added some fresh minced garlic & some fresh chopped parsley, I also thickened the sauce @ the end with corn starch. I've made this a few times, each with different types of chicken.. I find the absolute best is boneless/skinless chicken thighs. The meat of the thigh will not dry up like breasts do and there's no fuss with chopping a whole bird! Served over rice with broccoli or believe it or not -- over mac n cheese!

Golden Chili Chicken

This is a really good recipe. The only thing I added to it was 1 tbsp. of orange zest & fresh parsley for garnish. Everyone cleaned their plate with a smile!

Turkey Soup with Slickers

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This is an Awesome recipe, my wife's family has been making the identical soup for generations.. except they've always used chicken. With some convincing I got a bunch of them to try this turkey variation, everyone agreed it was equally delicious. My inlaws always called the "slickers".. "sliders" but no matter what u call them this is the best thing u can come home to on a cold winter's eve.

Steak and Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This is a gr8 recipe.. I followed it pretty closely, however, I used NY strip steak as thats what I had on hand, I grilled it, let it rest and then sliced it very thinly. I'm not a fan fruity dressings, I usedd a simple oil & vinegar dressing and topped the salad with crumbled feta, red onion and a little bit of fresh parsley.. SUPERB!

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
I'm sorry, I couldn't disagree more with other reviewers. My family loves peanut butter, PB&J sandwiches are a household staple - so I was eager to try this recipe. I made the soup according to the recipe & the smell and taste of peanut butter invaded our senses!! We found the taste very odd. I added about a litre more chicken stock, fresh basil and rosemary and that corrected it enough for my family to enjoy.

Turkey Breast Roulade

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This is a fantastic idea for turkey breasts, I had four huge pieces to work with and didn't want to end up with a Christmas style dinner.. it was raining really hard so the BBQ was out of the question. I stuffed them with a mixture of brown rice, parsnips, carrots, onion, garlic and made a red wine reduction to drizzle on them afterwards. Excellent!! Everyone left the table satisfied and full of compliments.

My Dad's BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
unfortunately i found this to be over powered by the taste of the pre-made bbq sauce base, i tried it again with a mix of ketchup and tomato paste and it was wonderful!
