About this Cook
I enjoy cooking new recipes and find it a challenge to make good food that people enjoy...but it's healthier version! I will always sneek in turkey where it calls for ground beef and applesauce is a great substitute for that unhealthy oil!! My family members are picky eaters so I must be very sly about the trade-offs!
My favorite things to cook
Homemade breads, pastas and cakes. As well as recipes with fresh vegies and herbs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There's hardly a weekend that my husband and I aren't in the backyard BBQ'ing; a pot of beans on the stove and homemade rolls are rising! Can't forget the chocolate cake for dessert.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking is definetly something that practice makes perfect and I am slowly seeing the benefits. The more experience I get the better most of my cooking and baking turns out!
My cooking tragedies
I have a tendancy to want to try a new recipe for guests before I try it out first. I have found it is best to stay with what you know for company and practice the recipe first!

Fry Bread Tacos II
I was very skeptical at first site of the bread while cooking, it looked like a hockey puck...but it did end up being very tender and light. (My husband commented that we need to have these more often!) I ended up using an additional 1/4 cup flour for a nice roll out consistency and poked a small whole right in the middle with my finger to allow them to cook without the puff. I enjoy a salt taste but these have a very strong saltiness, I will probably cut back on it the next time.

Fluffy White Frosting
Wonderful! This turned out so well and was so easy I had my kids make the second batch I made today. I placed the frosting in a gallon zip lock bag and snipped the corner to decorate our cupcakes. They turned out beautifully! The taste is light and just sweet enough (tastes a lot like marshmallow cream). I usually make frosting with loads of butter and confectioners sugar...not only is this better for the cholesterol it is better on your wallet!

Chicken Parmigiana
This was a great recipe. I only gave it 4 stars due to the additional seasonings I had to add to spruce it up. I would suggest decreasing the cooking time just a bit (especially if you flatten your chicken). I followed someone else's sauce recipe and it was wonderful! Definitely a recipe to keep.
