French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
Outstanding! I altered the recipe by doubling it, only using yellow onions, omitting the wine, using fresh chicken broth, using beef bouillon with water, using regular white vinegar (1 tbsp for the doubled batch, in case not being the correct vinegar would be a big deal), and put the spices in dry (crushed to bring out the flavors more). Lastly, I used a submersible blender at the end and pureed the whole thing to be smooth. I thought it was heavenly, so flavorful and buttery/creamy. I wasn't planning on this being dinner for the kids, so I just made it at the same time as broiled shredded BBQ chicken sandwiches. I put the two together (dipped the sandwich) and it was a pleasantly surprising combo! I will definitely make this again and try to make it more true to the original recipe, topped with toast, cheese and paprika. THANK YOU for this recipe!

Molasses Cookies II

Molasses cookies aren't my favorite, but this is a very tasty one. Spicy and Soft (I'm sure could be cooked longer to be wonderfully crispy).

Curried Chicken Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
My family all loved these meatballs! A few alterations I did this time: I used ground pork. And instead of curry sauce, I just used about 1/2 Tbsp of curry powder. I also added shredded carrots, italian squash, minced green pepper, a little pepper and garlic salt (used as part of the salt). My kids liked dipping it in ketchup, but I thought it had plenty of flavor by itself and was delicious! We put them with rice.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
My family and I all loved this. I actually used ground turkey, since I didn't have ground beef on hand, and it turned out better than I expected. I also used a bit of (couple Tbsp maybe) Italian Seasoned bread crumbs. I served the meatloaf with fresh green beans and a baked potato. Delicious!

Jean's Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I didn't follow the recipe exactly, but this was the base for the soup I tried tonight, which turned out delicious! Both of my typically picky eaters loved the flavor, as well as my husband and me. I sauteed 1/2 an onion in oil, added quartered carrots, spices (basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, parsley, black pepper), and celery. Then I added the chicken stock from chicken I had freshly boiled (in water with the sliced ginger and pepper). I still sauteed the diced chicken with (now chopped) ginger root and added that to the main pot. I threw in some chicken bullion and broccoli at the last minute (didn't have enough celery/greens) before I added some homemade egg noodles (recipe I found on here...great!). Cooked til noodles were al dente. I personally enjoyed the touch of ginger immensely. Very flavorful and savory, a perfect soup for the soul!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
My mom's Minestrone Soup has always been my favorite, but she doesn't have it written down exactly. So when looking for a recipe to try, this sounded most like it. And it's (almost) just as delicious! Excellent!

Loved these! I used a bit less sugar and a little extra peanut butter, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. I got many compliments and I LOVED their taste and texture.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
As many others mentioned, I tried making this recipe with the adjustments of first sauteing the green pepper in olive oil with the garlic and onion (I used dried bc I didn't have a fresh one), then adding only 8 oz. tomato sauce and no water. I also used the enchilada sauce on top instead of the taco sauce. I thought it turned out GREAT! Very very yummy!

Hobo Dinner

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2009
Very tasty, especially with seasonings on the meat and again on the veggies. The only downfall for me was all the fat juice it was sitting in...like another person said, make sure it's low fat meat. I may even try ground turkey next time.

Banana Chocolate Chip Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
This was really good, but not to die for. I used less sugar (about 30% less), because my bananas were VERY ripe an sweet. Next time I'll probably try the amount called for, just to see what difference it makes. We ate it with ice cream and chocolate sauce on top and that pulled it all together for me.
