Asian Flair Flat Iron Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
I marinated overnight and did not get a really strong flavor from the marinade. It was good, but that's a lot of ingredients to not have a prominent flavor. The best piece I had was when I put a couple leftover pieces in the fridge, so this might be really good in a salad.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
This was good, but nothing great. It did not taste as "crock-pot" as most meats, so maybe the root beer helped that. I liked using pork tenderloin because it is so lean.

Crescent Mummy Dogs

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2011
We love these on Halloween, but my crescents never fully cover the weiner, especially if you get a good brand like Nathan's.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
This took longer, but is very efficient. I used the thick-cut bacon and it tasted a lot like cracklins. I will try it with regular bacon soon.

Honey Roasted Carrots

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
I quartered the carrots and thought they were delicious. I lined the pan with foil and there was more liquid than I expected. I could have used more carrots.

Creamy Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
These were good and even my cream cheese and sour cream haters ate them. I did have comments that the consistency is different than regular mashed potatoes.

Chicken Scampi II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
This was fine, but we weren't blown away by it. I think it needs more garlic, lemon and salt.

Marinated Spicy Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
I used pork tenderloin and marinated overnight. It ended up pretty salty and we did not get any real "spicy" flavor.

Famous Chicken Adobo

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2011
This was pretty spicy, and we like spicy. I would have enjoyed it more had it been toned down a bit, but that is just personal opinion. I used chicken tenders.

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
The broccoli was not cooked long enough and there really just was nothing very flavorful. I added a little extra milk and it turned out very watery, but that's my fault. It definitely needs some garlic, extra cheese, maybe two cans of soup, something.

Hamburger Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2011
I used this as a base recipe and rate it a 5 because I do not believe in poorly rating a recipe you change. I used 2 cans beef broth and 1 vegetable broth instead of water. I used a bag of frozen soup veggies and a bag of frozen okra, one can of diced tomatoes, 4 carrots, 5 potatoes and 1 onion. Instead of buillion I used a packet of brown gravy mix. I did not use basil, but a tiny, tiny amount of thyme with a healthy dose of garlic. Next time I will add extra corn and peas.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2011
I used the Liption Beefy Onion soup mix and this was probably the best crock pot roast I have made. We really don't care for it out of the crock pot, but it's a great after-work alternative. I do suggest the Beefy Onion mix. I also seared with the Montreal seasoning.

Grilled Chicken with Herbs

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2011
We were not impressed with this recipe; however, I did not completely ding it because I followed reviews and added the balsamic later in the marinating. I also did not have all of the parsley. I can say it drastically needs salt and pepper.

Polenta with Rosemary and Parmesan

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
This is a good side. I had cornmeal mix, so I left out the salt and it was perfect. I always forget I have to bake polenta, but it definitely needed it. I served it with the Braised Pork Ragu and enjoyed it.

Braised Pork Ragu

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
This was a restaurant-quality entree. I used pork tenderloin and did not have carrots. I served it over the Rosemary Parmesan Polenta on this site and it was truly fantastic. I will also try serving it with pasta, mashed potatoes or rice. Fantastic!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2011
4.5 Stars: I marinated 2 lbs. chicken tenders for 2 days. It was a good marinade. I made another 1/2 batch of marinade/sauce for basting. One day I will master grilling tenders without drying them out, although I did do better this time. I served this with yellow rice, but think a fried rice or Asian-type side would be better.

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
I used one pork tenderloin (one, not a package of two) and kept it whole. It marinated for 1.5 days and was fantastic. It was such a wonderful change from typical pork tenderloin recipes. I served it with roasted quartered, baby red potatoes that I roasted along with the pork. Truly delicious.

Crispy Oven-Roasted Rosemary Chicken with Sausage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2011
4.5 Stars: I prepped earlier in the day, then baked for dinner. The potatoes had browned even though the dish was covered, so in the future I would not add them until right before baking. I think I baked it too long, too, because the chicken was a bit dry. I used no oil during frying. I browned the sliced brats first, then added a little water to the browned bits in the pan for the chicken and potatoes. This gave the chicken a delicious flavor. Chicken broth or wine would have worked well for this as well. It's a great Octoberfest recipe. My husband thinks saurkraut would have been a great side.
