Angie's Perfect Dinner Rolls

I was looking forward to enjoying these after all the great reviews. Although they came out fine, and looked like the picture, I didn't find the FLAVOR anything to write home about. They were bland, with just a touch of sweetness. I've had better rolls, and these disappointed me.

Aunt Josephine's Fresh Pear Cake

This is a nice, mildly sweet cake, with a nice moist texture more like old-fashioned spice cake. The pear flavor doesn't stand out, however, and I disregarded the instructions to mix and mix for 3 minutes after adding the flour. Also, if you're "creaming" turbinado and grapeseed oil, you can stop wasting your time...oil and sugar with this texture will never cream. Beating has no effect whatsoever. I'd give the cake a 4-5 stars, but the instructions about a 3.

Banana Bran Muffins

Wow, really good. The bran and banana flavors are balanced nicely. Threw in some mini chocolate chips to tempt my picky eaters and the first batch was gone in less than two days.

Aunt Norma's Rhubarb Muffins

This is now my go-to recipe for Rhubarb Muffins. Fabulous! I had to make some adjustment due to ingredient shortage/lack: Used 2 c flour + 1/4 c ground flax + 1/4 c ground almond meal to make the difference. I also added a dash of cinnamon to the muffin batter. Used 1/4 c veg oil + 1/4 c coconut oil. And because I have nut-haters at my house, I left the walnuts out and used extra rhubarb. I will never use another recipe! These turned out 16 muffins, rather than two dozen.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Really good! I found this quite salty when I used Tony Cachere's seasoning so next time I will cut out the extra salt. Also, my hubs doesn't like heavy cream flavor, so I used 1/2 & 1/2 which worked just as well. I served mine over spaghetti squash, which was wonderful. Easy to make. Will definitely make this again.

White Chocolate Gorp

I followed suggestions and halved the white chocolate, and my family (sugar-lovers, all) still complained that it was too sweet! Perhaps this just isn't the right thing for us to choose for snacks! Right now I have more than half the recipe sitting in the fridge because no one is eating it. :(

Dense, weighty, spongy...delicious. I will return to this recipe. I added sicilia di fiore orange oil to the batch too...yum!
