Key Lime Rum Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
This cake is extremely moist! Took less than 90 minutes for me, maybe 70-75...I dyed it green for fun, it was a big hit!

Beer-Batter Onion Rings

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
This works well, I ended up dipping them in flour, then batter, then flour again, then batter again, and they came out beautifully crunchy. First time frying onions; next time would use more spices in the flour/batter/both :)

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
Fantastic recipe. I always try to use real garlic when I can, so I did; I hear some people say 3 tsp garlic powder is not enough, and some say it's too much! I think it depends on the brand. I have some Lowry's that's more garlic than salt, and some generic that's more salt than garlic, it varies a lot!

Mushroom Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I was pleasantly surprised with this! I read other reviews first and IF you do make these changes: -Chop the mushrooms -Use 2 eggs -Fry in 2-3 tbsps of oil They will act (and even look) like hamburger meat. Awesome.

Ham and Corn Beignets

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
These were fantastic. They fry up quick and they taste great with cocktail sauce or maple syrup. I'm sure they're excellent when done exactly as directed, but I have to admit I used canned corn and 'lunchmeat' ham. STILL fabulous and completely foolproof.

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
I needed something to make into a flag cake, and also something that didn't list boxed cake mix as an ingredient! I had to sub vanilla yogurt for sour cream. This is a very tasty cake.

Pigs in a Blanket

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This is an old favorite. To solve the doughy-middle problem, I cook the hot dogs in the microwave first. I flatten the biscuit dough out flat and wrap it around the entire hot dog. Place it seam-side up, it will usually split open a little and resemble a hot dog bun. This way it cooks evenly, and the cheese stays in.

Chess Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
I should have read the reviews first; I followed the original directions and it came out looking like a waterbed. Definitely bake at 350 for 50 minutes and cover the outer crust, and definitely leave it in the oven after you turn it off.

Pumpkin Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I like this. I used a big springform instead of 2 small pans; my crust got a little burned on the bottom but that's my oven and my failure to use a water bath. Other than that, delicious. Upon realizing I only had 1 egg, I had to replace the other egg with a spoonful of mayo. Just in case anyone's curious, that works fine. :)

Lovely soup! First time making homemade tomato soup, I made it a little spicy and served with grilled cheese on homemade bread ;)

All Day Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2009
This worked well for me. The bottom burned but I left it in the full 5 hours, maybe less time would be better. Per other reviews, I didn't cook the noodles and they were perfect. I will use this recipe again, it's a good recipe when you have no meat and no time to cook.

Easiest Egg Nog

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I had no idea it could be this easy and fast. After making it a few times, you can just eyeball and adjust to taste; you could practically make it in your sleep. This time in particular, I used 2 cans of evaporated milk, half a fifth of rum, six eggs, and plenty of sugar and spice. Thanks for sharing!

Egg-free Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
These are very good. They can be moist and good, you have to take them out while still a little glossy, and no the toothpick should not come out perfectly clean. If you wait till the whole top hardens and the toothpick comes out clean, they will be crumbly.

JELL-O® Chocolate Pudding Fudge

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
I needed something that wouldn't take too long to cool, and this was nice! I brought it to a party and it was all gone by the end of the night; I think it had a very nice fudge-like consistency. The butter pooled up around the edges, so I cut them off to use at home. I was very happy with this quick and easy recipe.

Onion Cheese Bread

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
This was a life saver! I wanted to do bread but had no yeast. I used the baking mix recipe from this site, and I also didn't cook the onions first, I sort of like them par-cooked and they came out tender but still with some white color. I used 2 rectangle bread pans, and it took more like 30-35 mins in my oven to firm up. Delicious, buttery goodness and certainly worth a try.

I used imitation crabmeat, and cheddar instead of swiss. This was so creamy and decadent, definitely a keeper.

Cream Cheese Squares

My husband raved about this! I omitted the cinnamon, topped the cream cheese mixture with maraschino cherries, and drizzled chocolate syrup on top before serving. This one is a keeper.

Bread Pudding II

I've made this before with bread and it was great. Ever have leftover waffles or pancakes, and you don't know what to do with them? I just made this with waffles. It works, and it's pretty good.
