Soft Garlic Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
Fantastic recipe. I always try to use real garlic when I can, so I did; I hear some people say 3 tsp garlic powder is not enough, and some say it's too much! I think it depends on the brand. I have some Lowry's that's more garlic than salt, and some generic that's more salt than garlic, it varies a lot!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
I love my yeast breads and this turned out great. I didn't mess with the yeast, and it rose in the oven just fine. The browned cheese is how cheese is supposed to look when you put it on bread. I liked it a lot!

Beer-Batter Onion Rings

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
This works well, I ended up dipping them in flour, then batter, then flour again, then batter again, and they came out beautifully crunchy. First time frying onions; next time would use more spices in the flour/batter/both :)

Mushroom Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I was pleasantly surprised with this! I read other reviews first and IF you do make these changes: -Chop the mushrooms -Use 2 eggs -Fry in 2-3 tbsps of oil They will act (and even look) like hamburger meat. Awesome.

Roasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
Delicious. Garlic comes in all shapes and sizes, I had a HUGE bulb so it took the full half hour, but I checked on it frequently by poking it with a fork.

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I did this with boneless ribs. The sauce was slightly thin but I could've fixed it if I wanted to. Excellent flavor and tenderness, no need to sop up a bunch of thick sauce.

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

REALLY tasty! Felt like being bold with some leftover cabbage and this was fantastic. The sweetness and the vinegar go well together.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This is foolproof. It's great for sandwiches and usually my breads aren't good for sandwiches! It's a great way to save money too.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
I was impressed! My fiance got 'burnt out' on coffee cake as a kid but when I made this he licked the plate. It LOOKS flat in a 9x13 at first, but it rises. If it doesn't rise, it's probably time to buy fresh baking powder.

This cake is extremely moist! Took less than 90 minutes for me, maybe 70-75...I dyed it green for fun, it was a big hit!

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
Thank you for this. I have been "just throwing it together" for so long, and things really DO come out much better with a starter recipe, I followed it to the letter w/ fresh mushrooms and frozen veggies, definitely a classic hit :)

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
WOW. This recipe knocked me off my feet...I have been trying to cheat with stroganoff for so long, but I finally tried the slow-cook-in-the-gravy way and it is well worth it. Beautiful, professional looking results and addictive flavor. I made a rather large pot for myself and 2 other guys, it was gone before we could blink :)

White Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
Fantastic cookies. I used Hershey's special dark cocoa powder and OMG. I was worried about the thickness of the batter, it is quite thick, but that makes it easy to shape the cookies and they come out perfect if you like a denser, chewier consistency.

Italian Confetti Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
WOW. Absolutely delicious simple dressing! I used this as a pasta salad guideline, because it had such good reviews; I used black beans, bacon, and olives with the simple mayonnaine dressing and it is out of this world. Can't wait to bring it to Mother's Day!
