This just didn't work out for me...

Oven Fries

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I set my oven to 425 and places the fries skin-side down as others suggested. When I saw that the tips were beginning to turn very dark brown and the surfaces had a browned, 'bubbled' texture. They weren't super crispy, but the taste and texture were delicious anyways. I will probably make these often, I HATE sticking potatoes in huge vats of hot oil, I've done it for years and I never look forward to it.

Black Gold Burgers

Very flavorful, very summer-y. Was looking for a good flavorful burger that wasn't just over-the-top random and weird.

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly as written and my advice is to NOT alter this recipe! If you do the measurements and ingredients exactly as listed, you will have picture-perfect pancakes that rival any old box mix.

White Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
I needed something to make into a flag cake, and also something that didn't list boxed cake mix as an ingredient! I had to sub vanilla yogurt for sour cream. This is a very tasty cake.

Broccoli Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
The sauce got rave reviews. It's amazing how a few changes can do that to a can of cream of mushroom soup.

Old Settlers' Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Delicious. I followed the directions exactly, except I scaled it down to 2 servings as all I had was a lonely can of pinto beans...This recipe turned those pintos into beautiful hearty baked beans! Good flavor and I love all the meat.

Beef Parmesan with Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
This was pretty good.....Definitely either do it the day before or marinade the steak, the meat was sort of tough but the meat cooked in sauce gave the sauce good flavor.

Pigs in a Blanket

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
This is an old favorite. To solve the doughy-middle problem, I cook the hot dogs in the microwave first. I flatten the biscuit dough out flat and wrap it around the entire hot dog. Place it seam-side up, it will usually split open a little and resemble a hot dog bun. This way it cooks evenly, and the cheese stays in.

Banana Banana Bread

I got 12 picture-perfect little muffins out of this. I did add just a little nutmeg and cinnamon. If you do use this recipe for muffins, they won't take the full hour; mine only took about 30 minutes, and they were delicious.

Joey's Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
Fantastic. I used vanilla yogurt and a dash of nutmeg, to give it that 'vanilla bean' look. No, it's NOT 'authentic New York' LOL. It never said it was. But it's really, really good.

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
Loved this. Was really craving enchiladas and these were so rich I could barely finish 2! I love them. This recipe does clearly state 'quick and easy' not 'authentic Mexican'! So I guess if you're 'offended' by enchiladas being made with flour tortillas then this recipe is obviously not for you.

Mmm-Mmm Better Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
Incredible. This is my new brownie recipe. I added some chocolate chips, and the short baking time makes the chocolate chips stay together and I am eating one now and I shouldn't go get another one buuut I probably will.

Triple Fudge Brownies

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
I loved these! I wouldn't call these 'cakey', they're not super dense but they're not dry. I used chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips because that's what I had, and these melted into nice molten gooey spots instead of disappearing into the brownies. They're shiny and moist and SUPER easy, thanks for sharing.

JELL-O® Chocolate Pudding Fudge

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
I needed something that wouldn't take too long to cool, and this was nice! I brought it to a party and it was all gone by the end of the night; I think it had a very nice fudge-like consistency. The butter pooled up around the edges, so I cut them off to use at home. I was very happy with this quick and easy recipe.

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
Just made this for a nice Sunday breakfast. I LOVE the way this comes out. I had to sub cranberry juice, but I think it works and being similar to the blueberries it might fix that 'orangey' thing people were talking about. I let it cook for the full 40 minutes, it will firm up if you let it cook long enough. I liked the crust. I've had cobbler with the crisp, flakey, flour-and-butter flavored crust and honestly I like this better, almost muffin-y. Will DEFINITELY make again.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
This worked for me. I even made mistakes like stirring too much (?) but after I let it just rest and cook, it started to turn amber. I then stirred it really hard and poured it into the pan quickly. The layer of butter on top helps melt/spread the chocolate. It's a GOOD thing. Delicious recipe.

Onion Cheese Bread

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
This was a life saver! I wanted to do bread but had no yeast. I used the baking mix recipe from this site, and I also didn't cook the onions first, I sort of like them par-cooked and they came out tender but still with some white color. I used 2 rectangle bread pans, and it took more like 30-35 mins in my oven to firm up. Delicious, buttery goodness and certainly worth a try.

Italian Confetti Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2008
WOW. Absolutely delicious simple dressing! I used this as a pasta salad guideline, because it had such good reviews; I used black beans, bacon, and olives with the simple mayonnaine dressing and it is out of this world. Can't wait to bring it to Mother's Day!
