About this Cook
I work full-time+ as a physician assistant and love my profession, but it doesn't leave me much time to cook. Lucky me-my husband does 90% of the weeknight cooking (and it's good). When time permits (if I get home early or have a day off), I take over the kitchen. I'm also lucky to work with people who also like to cook and try new things - so we're always sharing what we've made and our recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Recipes from this website with peoples' reviews-so I'm pretty gauranteed it will be good. This website has really fueled my cooking and trying different things. Hence my username - lovethissite. My husband jokes this is my "facebook."
My favorite family cooking traditions
9/2010-We always make my daughters birthday cake as a theme cake and everybody looks forward to seeing what we've done each year (this year was Tinkerbell). 2010-I'm polish and love pierogies, but never make quite the neat package my Gram would make - so was happy to try the pierogi casserole this year that gave me the same flavor without the effort.
My cooking triumphs
2010-cooked toffee and had always been afraid to cook anything that required a thermometer, but did it and came out great - no more thermometer fear.
My cooking tragedies
2010-broken oven and trying to cook from Thanksgiving to Christmas without one. Mostly ok except the cake that was cooking when the stove broke (coconut cake-which I did salvage) and Christmas eve puff pastry filets in the oven roaster - not so good :(.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread
I say 3 stars, my 7 year old daughter says 5 - so it gets a 4. I had both blueberries and a zucchini I wanted to use up - so tried this. For me it was a little bland and the blueberries didn't pop with flavor as I hoped. I did used a mixer to mix all but the blueberries - so maybe that just melded the flavors together too much. I like that it made 2 (regular size) loaves so I had one for home and one for work - they were both all eaten.

White Chocolate and Cranberry Cookies
The batter is delicious. I used vanilla instead of brandy. I broke up white chocolate bark I had which made some small pieces so may have limited the white chocolate flavor - so will def use white chocolate chips next time. I made some chocolate and butterscotch chip cookies out of the batter too but didn't love it.

French Toast I
Reminds me of french toast from my childhood. I had some homemade thicker and denser bread from a restaurant. I let each piece soak for about a minute. I cooked it on the griddle set at 325 for about 5 minutes each side until golden brown.
