Hey … Well this is a very busy month indeed!  Between baking, preparing main dishes in advance, shopping, wrapping, getting the tree and decorations up … well there is not time to procrastinate!  I really enjoy all of it, especially when the family starts to arrive home for the holidays.… MORE

Hanging in There
About this Cook
Of course I Love to cook ... baking is not my strong point but I tackle it anyways. Walk my dogs every day for very long walks. Love to sketch in pencil and charcoal. Nothing I like more than having all of the kids home at the same time and cooking for them all. My step daughter is a baker so she usually takes care of dessert!
My favorite things to cook
Everything ... Coq Au Vin, Spaghetti Sauce, Stews, Beef Bourgignon, Grilling on the BBQ - Beef Tenderloin, Whole Flattened Chicken, Grilled Vegetables, Baked Pork with Apples and Onions ... I just Love to Cook anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Coming from a french family ... Tortiere at Xmas and Ragout, Baked Beans served with Eggs, Pate Chinois ... we always ate and both my mom and dad were great cooks!
My cooking triumphs
All of them are triumphs ... lol ... aren't they?
My cooking tragedies
There's been a few ... but who looks back?

Pork Chop Potato Casserole
This recipe was very good ... and the reason for a 4 star is that I made my own Cream of Celery Soup as I really do not like using canned soups and most of them are quite easy to make from scratch. With my homemade Cream of Celery Soup this Recipe really was a 5 Star + ... I left out the milk and sour cream because I had enough liquid in my soup as it was not condensed! Thank you Kim Maass for the recipe.

Baked Butter Herb Perch Fillets
I will use this recipe again as it was very good. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that the breading did not stick that well to the perch. I did use Ritz crackers and I have used them for breading in other recipes which turn out. Will have to try a different method of breading it next time.

Chef John's Lasagna
I have prepared lasagna following this recipe a couple of times now and I Love it! Leaving the noodles in ice cold water really makes a difference in the consistency of the noodle. I make my own marinara sauce most of the time but once in a while I buy it and when I do I buy the best because if you want your lasagna to be the best you gotta buy the best ingredients! Thanx Chef John ... there's a few recipes of yours that I've tried and they are all fantastic!
