The Gabster is now 6 years old (as of March 19th in fact).
As if her teeth heard the news (maybe it was all of us belting out happy birthday?) they went from being a little wiggly to practically LEAPING out of her mouth.
She is horrified.
I think it's funny, except that cooking for a child with 6 loose and 2 missing teeth has become like something from a 'B" horror flick.
Now let's see, how many bite sized (for a 6 y/o) old, delicious and nutritious meals can I come up with that require minimal chewing that don't fall into the pasta category? Hmmm.
Breakfast for dinner got old fast. Ditto rice. Beans do things to her I won't mention in polite company.
Tonight, as I'm making dinner (grilled cheese which she'll undoubtedly soak in tomato soup until it disintegrates), she came to me and said "Eureka! I know what we can do!" (Yes, Eureka. No idea where she heard that.)
Me: "I'm all ears."
Her: "Instead of pretending to be a princess, I'll just pretend I'm Ghandi until all my grown up teeth grow in. Problem solved."
