About this Cook
I'm a 31 y/o married mother of four children. (14 b, 12 g, 11 g, 4 b) I married my highschool sweetheart and currently stay at home. Besides coming up with my own concoctions (mostly out of necessity) I also collect recipes, cookbooks, (including vintage given to me by grandma) and cooking magazines. I was a strict vegetarian for almost 8 years, so I have many interesting dishes I have tried or created. Other things I enjoy are blogging, photograpy, cross stitching, and online pool.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake! I bake cookies, breads, muffins, pies, cakes, you name it. I also love to make soups and vegetarian dishes. I like making fun foods for the kids too which allows me to use my creativity and sometimes "play with my food".
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have lots of church cookbooks given to me, and small town cookbooks. One of my favorites is one that the women (and some men) of Leota, MI, put together. My grandma lives there and it's neat to look through and make things by folks of the town I remember while growing up. To me, baking and cooking in the tradtions of older women. Also, how to slow cook is a family tradition and a wonderful way to bring good food to the table without a lot of effort.
My cooking tragedies
Well, so far I can't think of one, but one time when my husband and I were newly married and it was a very hot summer I stirred up our last pack of kool-aid. I was mortified as I watched his eyes in horror and the kool-aid flying out of his mouth! I had actually used a whole cup of salt! LOL How I did that, I have no idea.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast
I made this for my son's 1st B-day. We served it with mashed potatoes & green beans. YUMMY. I browned it first, used golden mushroom & a garlic onion packet. I cooked it on high for 4 hrs, it was very tender, but a bit dry. That didn't matter though because the gravy masked it. I don't make gravy so it was great having it made while it cooked!! I didn't add any water & it was fine. I made it again with roasted garlic mushroom soup & a beef onion packet. Again, browning is a must if you ask me. It was tender, juicy and everyone loved it! I sliced it up & served it over egg noodles, with cooked frozen peas & mushrooms. Next time I'll add a little sour cream..mmm Thanks for a easy good recipe for the whole family. I have lots of dishes to spin off from this.
