My Bear and I
About this Cook
Military wife who enjoys traveling around the world learning new cultures and cooking techniques.
My favorite things to cook
ANYTHING with chicken (it's my absolute favorite food), and desserts that include chocolate and peanut butter combined. YUM.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Even though my husband and I aren't religious, each year we celebrate the holidays by baking multiple batches of treats to feed to our families.
My cooking triumphs
I finally mastered my mom's homemade cornbread. It took nearly 3 years, but now that I know how to get it just right I bake it at least once a month.
My cooking tragedies
I didn't notice my nephew had thrown a plastic lid into the oven once, and when I fired it up to bake a pizza the lid caught on fire and nearly burnt down half of the kitchen! Had to get a new range and replace 2 upper cabinets, but at least the rest of the house was intact!

Swirled Peanut Butter Cup Brownies
Made these brownies exactly as the recipe stated with a package of Ghirardelli Chocolate Supreme brownie mix and they were a HUGE hit. Even my health-nut husband ate more of them than I did and requested that I make them again at Thanksgiving for his family. Once again, they were gobbled up before the evening was over. Will make this my default brownie recipe from now on!

Wisconsin Five-Cheese Bake
I made this exactly as the recipe states with the exception of adding garlic bread crumbs to the top before baking. My husband and I LOVED it. We will certainly be making this again!!

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms
Made this exactly as the recipe stated except I added just a tad more cheese since my husband wouldn't stop eating it as the chicken was baking. Figured a little more on top would satisfy his new-found love for gruyere cheese. This was the first time I made it, and it certainly will not be the last! Whipped up a side of baked veggies to go with it. Absolutely delicious!
