Inside Out Ravioli I

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
I wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews but gave this recipe a try anyway. End result was really yummy. I did use less pasta and some mixed dry herbs based on other suggestions. I also used gluten free pasta and it worked just fine. The pasta soaks up the sauce as you bake it, so if you make the sauce soupy before you set it into the oven it won't be as dry.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2014
Mmmmm...yum! I made this gluten free, instead of bread crumbs I added some coconut flour and xanthum gum. The coconut flour absorbed the liquid really well and the xantum gum helped to hold everything together. End result was very delicious, it's a perfect to fill my burger craving in a healthy way.

Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
I used vanilla as other reviewers suggested. The dough was crumbly, but once I kneaded it a little it rolled out fine no problem. I used this recipe to make graduation cookie pops and uploaded a photo to the gallery. It worked so well and I was happy with the result.

Shrimp with Lobster Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2013
Thanks to other reviewers my dish turned out heavenly. I added peas and minced waterchestnuts, as well as beef bouillion. I didn't have any sherry but used white wine like PF Changs does. I also didn't have any pork but it still came out well with just Shrimp. I will definitely have to find that Lobster Bouillion that someone recommended. Even my picky two year old ate it, I definitely will be adding this to our menu rotation!

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
We had leftover baked sweet potatoes, I'm so glad I found this recipe so I could use them up! I shredded them instead of mashing. Then we had some light coconut milk to use up, about 3/4 cup. So I substituted some of that for regular milk. Then added cinnamon and vanilla as other reviewers suggested, and cut back on the butter. Heavenly! Who needs syrup, these are great plain.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2012
Recipe as written would have been too salty, as others mentioned you need to cut down on the soy sauce. I also used 1 teaspoon ginger and it was plenty. Overall this recipe has a good base of ingredients you can tweak. I used sesame seed oil in place of veggie oil for more asian flavor. I also left out the hot sauce to make it more kid friendly. For even more kid appeal I added a little peanut butter. I placed my chicken in the crock pot and let it simmer in the sauce for a few hours, the chicken absorbed the flavors really well. I served it over noodles with cabbage and broccoli, the family loved it. You can probably also add some orange juice to give it a citrusy flavor.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2012
I only had bone-in chicken breasts but gave it a try anyway. After 6 hours the meat fell apart from the bone and was delicioius. I didn't have Italian dressing either but it turned out delicious. Next time I will try adding sweet onions to give it more oomph.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
I made this using only half an onion as another reviewer suggested. I couldn't taste much onion so next time I would add in more but not quite a whole onion. I also used 1 cup plain greek yogurt in place of the mayo and didn't notice a difference. The whole thing came out bland, maybe because I only had half a pound of bacon on hand. It does get soggy so it helps to crumble it really small as another reviewer recommended. I also added garlic powder, dried dill and chives. Turned out to be a wonderful salad.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
I was looking for a glaze to drizzle over donuts and tried this one. A reviewer mentioned it's too thick to drizzle so I cut back on the chocolate chips. In the end it was still a little thick, next time I'll add more liquid to make it runny. Overall great taste and easy to make in the microwave!

Fluffy Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2012
Thanks to all the reviews I was able to modify my recipe. Left out the nutmeg and cinnamon. Used butter in place of shortening. I also used 2/3 cup of pastry flour in place of regular flour, I wanted a softer consistency to the donuts. I would've added more pastry flour but that's all I had on hand. We got a mini donut maker and ended up making 38 mini's. Found a chocolate glaze recipe on this site to dip the little guys in. Finished with sprinkles! Yum yum.

Asian Stir Fry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2011
This was good with a number of changes. Reduced corn starch and soy sauce in half. Also used 1/4 cup honey in place of corn syrup. It turned a little salty but good, next time will reduce the soy sauce a little more...

Jumbo Fluffy Walnut Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
Overall yummy recipe. I like to mix the wet ingredients together, then stir in the dry ingredients. I don't think you need to alternate mixing in the milk with the flour. I also used 1/4 cup of butter with 1/4 applesauce. Then also used 1/2 cup whole wheat flour and 1 1/2 cups white flour. Finally I cut the sugar down to just 3/4 cup which turned out just right. I can't imagine how sweet it would be if you used the full amount called for .

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
This was a good recipe though the end result tasted more like bialys than pretzels. I think next time around I'd add more flour so it's easier to work with, then maybe also trying boiling it in the baking soda bath that others suggested.

Florida Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
I didn't have enough strawberries so added a mashed banana. I also added half a teaspoon of baking powder and a dollop of sour cream to help it rise more. Came out light and fluffy, can't wait to try this recipe again when strawberry season arrives.

Crepes

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
Super yummy recipe! I used spelt flour and had to add some extra to give it a thicker consistency. I also keep the batter in the fridge, each morning it's ready for me to make a fresh crepe! It goes well with spinach, artichokes and mushrooms sprinkled with cheddar and goat cheese. I can't wait to try it with banana and nutella or chocolate!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
Thanks reviewers for the tip about adding the corn starch before the egg, it turned out pretty well. I didn't have any ginger but had crushed garlic and added a teeny bit of sesame oil to give it more of that restaurant taste. Will tweak some more to get it to taste right.
