Potato Bacon Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is a keeper. My husband has requested I make this for my mother-in-law when she visits. I make a few minor adjustments as well. This is one of our favorite "2fers." By this I mean I make it as breakfast first by frying bacon and then potatoes, onions and green peppers (homefries). I make alot so that I will have left overs. Then I make a 2nd meal by taking the left over potatoes and bacon and making this soup. I also add a dash of cayenne pepper and corn. Yummy on a cold winter day.

Best mac n cheese I have ever made. This is a keeper. I used 2 parts sharp chedder cheese and 1 part velveeta. It was all I had on hand. It turned out great.

Oven Omelet

Great way to use leftover ham from Thanksgiving dinner. To give a little pick up use shredded hash browns from Simply Potatoes which include green peppers and onions. Thanks for the easy recipe!

Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
My grandmother used to make this. We love it. I usually do not use a muffin tin. I make it in the pan I cooked the roast in. That way I do not lose any of the drippings for flavor. Then we cut it like we would a pan of brownies.

Mile-High Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
Excellent recipe! I MISTAKENLY added sugar (1/2cup white and 1/2 cup brown). I wish I had followed the recipe. The extra sugar was too much. That being said the flavor was good and I am sure without the additional sweet it would be perfect.

Broccoli and Ramen Noodle Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
This is an an excellent salad. I am usually asked for the recipe when I make this. I do make some slight alterations though. Instead of peanuts and sunflower seeds I use sliced almonds (which I toast ahead of time). I use about 1/2 tsp Crazy Mixed Up salt. Instead of cider vinegar I use rice vinegar. I know the raw raman noodles sound unappealing but they are vital to the dish. It all combines to make a salad with fantastic texture and great taste.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
My family loved this comfort meal. My only change will be to use reduced sodium soups. It was a little too salty for our tastes and that is without adding any additional salt to the recipe. It will definitely be in my rotation though!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
My instincts told me I would not like this due to the processed cheese but the reviews on this were good so I went with it anyway. I wish I would have listened to my gut. I even tried half and half with chedder and velveeta but still the flavor was overwhelmingly processed. Sorry. If you like the flavor of velveeta then it is a good soup if not try another recipe.

Shrimp and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Yummy! I was looking for something to do with my leftover crab meat. We had king crab yesterday. It is too expensive to let it go to waste. So this recipe was suggested in recipe exchange portion of the website. We loved it. Made a few changes per other reviews. I used sherry, green onions and left out shrimp. It does not make much. If you are eating it as a main course for dinner I would suggest doubling for a family of four.

OH, so good!! This is a great recipe. I loved it. I did cut the salt in half. Next time I will cut it down even more as it was still a little too salty for me.

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
Let me start by saying I have never made corned beef before. They only corned beef I've had is from the deli on reubens. This recipe is very easy.. I think it is very tasty but very salty. I know the recipe does not call for salt so I have decided it was the seasoning packet included or it is the nature of this meat. ...I loved my veggies cooked in the liquid from the meat.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I loved this recipe... i changed it a little because of what I had in my cupboard. I had left over Ropa Vieja meat (slow cooked flank steak with cuban seasonings), I did not have tomatoes with green chilies so I used stewed tomatoes and chopped up jalapenos. Anyway this is a keeper--- it will be a good leftover dish since I usually make black beans with Ropa Vieja. Yum, Yum!

Blackberry Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
I have made this twice in the last week with our freshly picked blackberries. My husband says it is his new favorite! I followed the recipe except for adding more berries (about 1 to 1 1/2 cups) and increasing the flour as other reviewers have suggested. The best part is it is SO EASY!
