About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking dinner for and with my husband. He's a great critic and a good cook, so anything we make is one of my favorite things to cook. I also like making baked goods, even though I shouldn't eat so many of them, and healthy meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad is the bread baker in our family. My mom did the everyday type cooking and cookies! She's the best at frosting cookies and cupcakes. The special things we make are usually British in origin because my dad and his family are English.
My cooking triumphs
The first couple years my husband and I were married I was a terrible cook. I would make large quantities of food that would've been good if I hadn't added that last ingredient or made other stupid mistakes. Then we moved to a new town and it was like, "BAM! I'm a good cook now." Everything I've made since then has been good to great - nothing gross like I used to make. Keep it simple. Basic. Use as much as you want and follow directions!
My cooking tragedies
I've deleted all of those memories from my brain.

Double Tomato Bruschetta
I made these with my Cooking Class Students for an appreciation dinner our school gave for our school board - these bruschetta equal job security! EVERYONE ate up all 320 bruschetta we prepared as appetizers! Awesome recipe!

Quick and Easy Brownies
I like these just the way they are. I've made them as written a few times now and they've been appreciated. This last time I made them I used 1 Cup of white Sugar and 1 Cup of Brown Sugar and it was good too! I grew up using box mixes for brownies and I enjoy this "from scratch" recipe because it is as easy as the box recipes and just as tasty! Thank you for this one!

Ginger Creams
These cookies are a Christmas favorite of our family. I believe my mother uses this same recipe from Betty Crocker's Cookie Cookbook. They are soft, not overly sweet (even with a light frosting on top), and the blend of spices makes them unique and exciting among all of the other Christmas cookie choices (Chocolate or Vanilla anyone?) I am so pleased to see this recipe on Don't be afraid of doubling it because these cookies go quickly!
