Pork Loin Rub
About this Cook
Mother to one, very energetic toddler who loves cherry tomatoes, blueberries, and chocolate (only in moderation though)! I love shopping and eating sustainably and locally so I've adjusted my weekly menu to include at least three vegetarian or vegan dishes. I prefer quality over quantity and REAL food!
My favorite things to cook
"Naked" foods; Traditional "peasant" meals; desserts (especially cheesecake and icecream); anything fresh and from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Huge holiday affairs where everyone helps. If you couldn't cook, you could at least peel potatoes!
My cooking triumphs
The first time I cooked whole fish on a grill - I had rainbow trout from the farmers market drizzled with some olive oil, lemon juice, and stuffed with lemon slices and rosemary. grilled in basket for 12 minutes on each side - it turned out amazing!
My cooking tragedies
Everything I put in my crock pot seems to come out tasting like one ingredient - I guess I'm an unsuccessful slow cooker...

Indian Tandoori Chicken
Excellent recipe! Used boneless skinless chicken thighs that I put on kabobs. Don't like food coloring? Use some colorful spices instead. I used some turmeric and some paprika to give it a brilliant orange color! The taste was the same.

Hearty Hot or Cold Roasted Tomato Soup
Really great summer soup! I followed the recipe exactly, except roasted my tomatoes and garlic for 20 minutes at 400°F instead of an hour (I was short on time). They still had that distinct roasted taste. I also served with avocado garnish and crusty garlic bread. Next time I will peel the tomatoes and remove the seeds, but will definitely be making again!

Shrimp Bisque
Really good recipe! I left out the butter, added 3 tablespoons of flour for a rue after sauteing the red pepper and onion. Added one fresh tomato and used 1 cup of reg half & half/2 cups of skim milk. It still turned out thick enough. Used an immersion blender to get it really smooth. Excellent with crusty bread and a salad!
