Lola's Horchata

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2014
Turned out pretty good! I changed the recipe by using 1/4 cup of half and half and 1/4 of skim milk. I also added only a half cup of sugar and it was still plenty sweet! My blender couldn't fit all of the rice and water so I had to do two "batches" that I later combined. I only let my rice soak for 3 hours and it still turned out perfectly!

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2014
I've always made PB cookies with 1 egg, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of PB. I used this recipe mostly to know the baking temperature and time. My cookies spread thin and were flat and hard. While edible, they were subpar. I'm not sure why these cookies came out so much differently than they used to and so different from the majority of the other reviews.

Best Brownies

We didn't make the frosting but the brownies were perfect without it. I don't know what to say about them. They were really delicious and I believe that we will be making them again. Thanks for the great recipe!

White Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
I was looking for a vegan frosting recipe that didn't use margarine, as I had none on hand. This recipe is OK. I first made it exactly as the recipe called except I halved it and used Soy Milk instead of water. Like this, without any alterations, it tasted exactly like the shortening and had a very thick consistency. I added a lot more vanilla and a bit more soy milk. In the end it was an ok recipe that tasted pretty good with the vegan cupcakes. With my alterations, it would have recieved 4 stars. Without them, barely 2. Thanks for the recipe! xx

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
I followed the recipe to a T and they came out nicely! I made some of them covered in sugar and others with just sugar on the top (both put on before baking.) I would definitley reccomend rolling them in sugar before baking! I used red sugar for Valentine's Day and they came out so pretty and yummy. You will need to bake it a little longer though. 11-12 minutes probably. You really have to get the timing just right for them to be perfect though. My third tray was perfect ;)

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
Got good reviews from friends! The taste was really good and it cooked all the way through which I was worried that it wouldn't. Only a few complaints. I molded a cookie to a hugh pizza pan, leaving a few inches on the side because others had said that it spilled over. When I took the cookie out of the oven after 20 mins, it had gone to the edges and threatened to spill over. It wasn't a big problem, just something to keep in mind. Also, the "crust" or the outside of the cookie wasn't really as chewy and good as the middle. I guess this is to be expected but still. Despite my complaints it was still very good!

Blueberry-Lemon Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
Pretty good bars. The blueberry and struesel parts were delicous. The crust was "eh." It didn't have much flavor and I think that 12 mins was too long in the oven. Would try this recipe again but with lemon juice or something in the crust and putting it in the oven for only about 10 mins. Nevertheless, the bars were a hit :)

Orange Chiffon Cake

Yummy cake! The frosting was not good at all though. Sorry!! Maybe we'll try a different glaze with this cake and the pineapples again. ;)

Lemon Orange Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
Yummy cake, but pretty dry. I put a raspberry filling in between the cakes and it was amazing! I doubled the frosting recipe and it was barely enought to cover the whole thing, without having to ice inbetween layers so definatley do that!! It was delicous though, and i definatley did not add 11 cups of powdered sugar. Also, my cake totally fell apart. Don't forget to saw off the top part of the individual cakes, as I did, to make them level. This will ruin it!!! Will probably do this recipe again with maybe a few less egg whites to make it less dry. And the raspberry filling is definatley a keeper ;)

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Veryyy yummy cookies. I increased the flour and baking soda and decreased the salt, as reccommended by @Fervent Frugal Foodie and others. FFF recommended a bake time of 335 for 12 min, which is what I tried but they still came out very doughy in the middle. My cookies tend to be on the large side, so that was probably why. I had to cook for 13-15 mins depending on each batch. In the end, very yummy recipe. Edit: I also did not use nuts.

Puppy Chow

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
Mmmm delicious!!! So addicting, I can't stop eating them! My Mom used to make this all the time. The one thing I'd say is that 1 cup of chips is defffinatly not enough for 9 cups of cereal. I used two cups of chips. I probably should have increased the peanut butter as well, as it didn't have a very strong taste of PB. WILL be making this again.

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Amazing muffins. I used 1/2 cup sugar, as recommended and they were perfect. I had run out of vanilla so used about 2 teaspoons of orange juice. You couldn't taste it in the end so maybe I could have just left it out. I also used frozen blueberries and I don't think it changed the outcome. It was all I had I used a cupcake pan and it made 19 delicous muffins. Were a hit!!!! The streusal topping was not as I expected but still delicous. I had a lot leftover, probably because of the small surface area of the top.

Peppermint Chocolate Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
DELICOUS. The brownies on bottom would be great alone but the peppermint frosting just tops it off!!! The first time I made these, I dyed the frosting pink but forgot to let the brownie part cool before frosting. DO NOT forget this! It made the frosting slightly runny but fortunatley they still tasted good. The second time I made these, I left the frosting white and remembered to cool the brownie. See my picture of the end result of the second one!!! (:

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
Realllyyy good frosting!!! Im rating a 4 because it took a longgg time to make. Firt step took foreverrrr and was unclear. How much heat? For how long? It didnt really turn into a "ball" but it was a sticky consistincy. I had it on medium heat for about 20 minutes. I used this on mini white cupcakes and everyone loves em. I added a little more vanilla so just tast before icing the cake/cupcakes. I dont think ill make this again just becausr there are so many recipes that are almost as good and take 5 minutes as opposed to near 30.

Lemon Cheesecake Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
This was really good. The family asked for seconds. Wish i had more jam for a stronger rasberry flavor. I cut it in half and put it in a 9x9 pan. It might have been because I halved it but it took longer to bake. About 40 minutes. Maybe the recipe was supposed to read 40-45 because at the top it says that the bake time is 45 minutes. This was a great dessert for when I had no butter, vanilla or chocolate chips. Thanks!!! :)

Frosted Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
I dont think I did anythIng wrong. I fOllowed user Valeries instructions. I melted the chocolate which went fine. Then I mixed In the sugar and oil which made a lumpy, watery mess. I had mostly given up but tried cooling it in the fridge anyways. It was in for 1 minute and turned into liquidly choclate surrounding a huge stone hard lump of..... Chocolate? I dont even know what to compare it to.
