About this Cook
I am the mom of a horse crazy daughter, BMX racing son and the wife of a sheetmetal worker. When I'm not running the kids to and from their sports or vacuuming sheetmetal dust out of every nook and cranny I love to cook. I find recipes and tweak and twist into my own thing. Some times it fails sometimes it doesn't! Haha!
My favorite things to cook
Stir-fries, Mexican food, split pea soup (I got the recipie here and it is amazing)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter always requests split pea soup for her birthday, making "from scratch" hot chocolate on Christmas Morning
My cooking triumphs
Being able to cook confidently!!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Tried making Peking Pork from a Raechal Ray recipie and over fried it, my oil was toooooo hot. I fried the platic spatula as well. OOOOPPPSSS!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Taste delicious. Mine flattened out really badly but most likely its something that I did. I'll try the recipe again in the near future.

Mexican Corn on the Cob (Elote)
I now have to try this with lime!! I have been making it a lot recently, it becomes one of those recipes you crave for no reason. The reason for only 3 stars is that your supposed to use Mexican La Crema, mayo is not the authentic way, and Tapatio hot sauce. Quick tip.. if pressed for time, make a "salad" with frozen corn and it is just as good.

Pecan Turtle Bars
Did as many here suggested and doubled the flour mixture and they came out great! I also did the Sweetened Condensed Milk caramel (a can of SCM in its can (with label off),covered in water and cooked in a crockpot for 8 hours)thinned out with some milk and it worked beautifully, though I may do 2 cans next time. These are super rich so a small bar suffices :)
