Porter Terriaki Rib Eye

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2010
It's not exactly the traditional way to grill a ribeye, but I've made them for many guests and everyone has told me it was the best they'd ever had. I know that story though. It's the best they've ever had until they have another that's better. Perhaps, they'll never have another that's better. I sure haven't.

Shrimp and Chicken Carbonara

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2010
I did the recipe, so I guess I'll be the first to rate it. It's delicious, what more can I say. Simple to make, doesn't take a long time to make and common ingredients.

Wiener Schnitzel

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
My grocer didn't carry veal, so I used some nice pork loins. Pounded them out nice and thin and they came out excellent. Almost as good as the best I ever had in Germany. Son and his girlfriend gave them an A+. Part of that, no doubt to my incredible skillls as a chef.

German Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Made if just as the recipe called for. I noticed that using fresh yukon gold potatoes, the mix was a little wet. I put the potatoes in a colander over another bowl pot so they could drain. They came out perfect. I was making all german for the family this evening and these were as authentic as any I ever had in Germany when I lived there for 9 years.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
This is without a doubt the best sweet cornbread I have ever had. I grew up in the south east and cornbread was always a mainstay item in our family. I've had grandmas, moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and friends. Sorry family and friends. This one tops them all.

Skillet Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
Outstanding green beans. I substituted fresh for frozen, used olive oil instead of margarine and added about a tablespoon of garlic. Just personal preferences. Would have been just as great without modifying.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I also substituted the tomato paste with Ketchup. Best shrimp I've ever made! Since the shrimp were cooking on the upper grate above the steaks some of the marinate dripped onto the steaks and gave them a nice flavoring as well.

Diane's Colcannon

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
These are really good. Being a kitchen soldier I had to modify the recipe just a bit. I increased the amount of bacon to 6 strips instead of 4 because bacon makes anything better. I added a little olive oil and season all to the cabbage and onion while they were sauteing. Everything else was done per the recipe. I think they have an aprodisiac kind of effect to them because my wife couldn't keep her hands off of me after I made these. I made them with another recipe found here for meat loaf and it was just scrupious. Hope you all enjoy my review and remember, don't let your meat loaf.
