About this Cook
I'm currently a computer engineering graduate student at the university of illinois. I have been cooking for almost 3 years (basically, since I moved out of the house). I like cooking coz I find it cheers me up and helps me relax. It's also a good excuse to procrastinate on school work. I also love good food, and enjoy making it myself.
My favorite things to cook
I would cook just about anything that sounds good. I have found a lot of great recipes on here. I like to try seemingly odd things. Any recipe with orange jus, brown sugar, or red/white wine intrigues me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
None. My mom hates to cook. She's an excellent cook, but she does it out of must. If she had it her way, we'd eat sandwiches every meal. :)
My cooking triumphs
I've cooked a Soy Ginger Salmon recipe that I found on here on several occasions. And every time someone tried it they always asked me for the recipe.
My cooking tragedies
My friend once asked me to cook her a spinach orzo a la macaroni grill, because quote: I'm such a great cook. I didn't even know what orzo was. I thought it was some type of rice, so I cooked it as such. It was a disaster! My friend would not believe me and she insisted on trying it. She literally spit it out!

Saffron Rice
If they served rice in heaven, this saffron rice may be it!! Very easy to make, and very rich in flavor. Though you only use 4 cloves, they add a lot of flavor, so does the cinnamon. Only one observation: It didn't take nearly 40 minutes for the rice to cook. It only took 8-10 minutes for the rice to absorb all the water, and when I tasted it, it was completely cooked.

The Amazing Swedish Meatball
I loved the sauce. It is very simple to make and it tastes good. I went to Ikea and had their famous swedish meatballs, and I have to say I liked this sauce a lot more than theirs. I usually add a little bit of corn starch to make it a thicker gravy type sauce.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
After reading some of the comments, I decided to try the recipe with half beef half pork, but I thought the pork made it a little drier. So next time I'll be making it with all beef again. Excellent recipe, Thank you!
