My favorite family cooking traditions

Old world Czech. dinner from my mother: Stewed chicken and homemade noodles. Always been my favorite. My MIL was a great cook too. She had a delicate touch with gravies and meat and a beautiful way of serving it all.

My cooking tragedies

My husband still laughs at one of my first attempts at cooking as a newlywed--potato pancakes. I didn't even know how to make a sandwich then and have been trying to teach myself to cook ever since.

Garlic Mashed Red Potatoes

Good, next time I'll try additional butter, a little sour cream and use red potatoes - all I had on hand were Idaho. Know the texture and flavor is always better with creamers with the skins on.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Perfect. Used twice as much liquid as called for. Very smooth and dried quickly. Sprinkles added to festive look. Used with krusteaz sugar cookie mix.

Coconut Shrimp I

I only tried the recommended dipping sauce- scrumptious ! I used Trader Joe's Coconut Shrimp; Can't wait to try this shrimp recipe too.
