About this Cook
I love to entertain. Every weekend we have people over and my fiance and I select a menu and a wine pairing. We prepare the meal together, it's a new hobby of ours together. For years I've prepared food to sustain life, but for the first time I feel confident enough to say that I would be comfortable preparing a meal for anyone (with the assitance of and my calming sous chef fiance by my side).
My favorite things to cook
Anything with a good review from - I adore this site.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Latvian cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I had someone over for a date years ago and set an oven mitt on fire, thankfully he had his back turned. Many burns, cuts, bandaged fingers, misplanned events, like stirring the marshmellows into the fudge and realizing that I didn't have an aluminum foil covered dish waiting.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce
We tried once with a regular blender and it didn't work for us, but we tried again with a hand blender and it changed over immediately. So delicious and easy!!!

Nacho Cheese Sauce
This was easy to make and I've replicated this technique many times to make other recipes "cheesy". I was looking for a recipe that had the nacho cheese sauce similar to that fake stuff you get over the nachos at the movies - this is a great substitute and I love the fact that I know it's cheese. I'll always use this when I can. Thanks!

Reuben Sandwich II
We were truly surprised that we were able to replicate our favorite local deli reubens at home. Thanks so much!
