Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2012
Made with Mutsu apples, will probably use Granny Smith next time. Didnt add water and would probably add a pinch of salt next time. Great recipe, really crispy topping!

Moravian Ginger Cookies II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2012
Not as spicy as I was hoping. Looking for a Sweetzel/Ivins ginger snap type recipe. Dough is very loose but once you pack it, roll it and chill it, it cuts very easily.

Amazingly simple and similarly amazing results. Served this to our neighbors and families and was pleasantly surprised at the perfect key lime tang and consistency! 5 stars and will definitely make again, how could you not with such a simple recipe with excellent results.

Microwave Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Instant classic in my family. We couldn't believe that microwave brittle would be anything like the real thing but we were proven wrong and pleasantly surprised!! I just need to tweak out the times for the correct flavor that we like.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
As previously mentioned by another rating, this misses a 5 star as it is not as spicy as expected. The flavor is great and full bodied with spices but just doesn't have that spicy bite that I would expect in a so titled cookie. I found the dough to be sticky but with a light dusting on the surface and dough it rolled out rather easily with a silicone covered pin.

Deep-Fried Turkey Marinade

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Amazing! I picked this recipe up in a hurry for my company holiday party. Most people have had fried trukey but not a "cajun" fried turkey. This was a hit and looked like pirhanna had attacked it within 20 minutes of carving the first bit off. Excellent recipe. I used a 15 pound bird at 350 and everything came out beautiful.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
The only negative we had, and something that we had entire control of, is that the amount of rosemary and the resulting texture with the meat is a bit too "organic" for us. We did use dried rosemary so fresh would have a softer texture and would probably become softer under the grill heat. We also cut out the salt and used HVLight Ranch. Tenderloins and boneless thighs with red and green peppers, onions and squash. Delicious even with the rosemary being a bit rough.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
Very tasty, might recommend using bacon grease as the frying medium for that all encompassing comfort food taste! Getting the toast crispy took some fine tuning in the cook process, but the flavor and aroma in the house was great!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Wonderful thick cornbread. I might add a little more sugar or some chopped jalapeno's next time for a little more sweet or heat.

These cookies are always a hit at parties and never fail to surprise when people see how easy they are to make. I recommend using a darker chocolate and crushed peppermint for a nice holiday treat as well!!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
Very good recipe that tastes like authentic new york cheese cake. The changes that I made were: - added cinnamon and sugar to crust as recommended. - baked crust for 10 minutes to set before adding filling. - combined eggs, milk, vanilla before adding as one mixture. - used water bath method and greased entire pan. I think that I blended the filling too much as the cake is very light and airy on the tongue instead of that stick-to-your-mouth density. Oh well, it was so tasty that I am sure there will be a round 2 to fix what may have gone wrong!! After reviewing I realized that I did not add the flour! DOAH!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
Wife and every guest to ever try this recipe LOVE it. I add a few diced chipotle peppers for some heat as well as replace the oregano and parsley with fresh chopped cilantro for that authentic taste.

Creamy Caramel Flan

I got a recipe similar to this from some Puerto Rican friends but misplaced it. After finding this, everyone always asks for this anytime dessert is involved. AWESOME dish and easy to make as long as you get the center settling correct.
