About this Cook
I am 28, and have been cooking in the kitchen since I was about 12 years old, with my mother. She was the main person who helped to develop the skills I have now. So thanks Mom!
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a specific recipe that is my favourite, as long as everyone enjoys it, that's good enough for me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family has a long tradition of being able to make a meal to feed a lrage family out of almost nothing! We call the larder dinners, and they're usually the best kind of meals, they use any ingredients we happen to have in the cupboards!
My cooking triumphs
I am best known for my savoury mince, which is a good basic for making cottage and shepherd pies along with many other dishes or just on it's own. If people hear that I'm doing a batch, they usually send in their orders!!
My cooking tragedies
I am absolutely abismal at lasagne, which always comes out dry, but I leave that to my sister, who does the best lasagne ever! She usually gets orders when she is doing one for her family! ;o)

Sophie's Shepherds Pie
So wasn't expecting the great feedback! So thank you all very much! This really is a versatile recipe, and the great thing is that when you swap out the lamb mince for beef mince, you just change the name from shepherds pie to cottage pie :0) The mince base is also really great with a jacket potatoe or in a bowl with a piece of crusty bread. It's what our family calls a rib coater, great on cold nights.
