Barbecued Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Excellent! I added BBQ sauce since I didn't have any liquid smoke. I used white wine vinegar instead of red wine for the same reason. I used steaks that I needed to get out of the freezer. Probably due to the cut of meat, I had very little fat in the sauce. This was very good and went especially well with the creamy coleslaw I found on this website.

Creamy Coleslaw

Creamy and good, especially on a BBQ beef sandwich. I used a bag cole slaw mix. Still worked great.

Pork Medallions

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
This was excellent. My husband called it resturant quality. I doubled the gravy portion of the the recipe as called for in prior reviews. I also used poultry seasoning as I couldn't find savory. I marinated the meat in a mixture worchester sauce, shiraz, poultry seasoning, & a herb mixture my uncle makes. It was so moist and yummy.

Una's Cheddar Beer Bread (bread machine dough cycle)

Really, really good. My boyfriend devoured this at dinner. My cheese was not dissolved but in little chunks throughout dough. I also added chunks of garlic. Turned out very yummy.

Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
My boyfriend loved the cake. I changed the recipe up a bit, for his happiness and per other reviews. I used butter instead of crisco. I added 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon to the flour mixture. 1 tps vanilla to the egg mixture. I cooked the cake in 2 round cake pans. I doubled the cinnamon sugar topping, used half on one side of the cake. The other half I turned into a struesel with 2 TB brown sugar, 1 TB flour and 2 TSB cold butter. While the cakes where still cooling, I poured 1/4 cp melted butter over each half. I stacked the cakes with the topped sides in the middle and frosted the whole cake with store bought vanilla frosting. It turned out excellent.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

These disappeared and everybody loved them. I added 1/4-1/2 cup flour (depending on how cake like you want them)as suggested. I used all butter instead of shortening. I added 1/2 tsp of nutmeg. Excellent.

Penne and Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I used the basic recipe but added chopped garlic, shallots, cayenne pepper flakes, and 1 can of tomatoes. Instead of putting in the vodka alone, I added it with the tomato sauce. I added the cream last. I only was able to use regular center cut bacon. It was very good and better than any canned sauce I've ever had.

Excellent cheesecake. I topped it with fresh berries. I also added 1 1/2 tsp of lemon juice, just to add a little citrus flavor. Yummy.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2006
Similar, but due to the lack of layers not as good as some of the Baked Ziti recipes on this site. I even added provolone and ricotta cheeses.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2006
Mostly very easy to make. The most tedious part was taking the husks off the beans (as suggested in here). They are not hard to take off but there are so may beans. I took it too a party and every body was loving it. I even had to give the recipe out. Next time I will try adding more flavors to it. I did add cumin to taste as previously suggested and extra garlic.

Strawberry Angel Food Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
Very quick and easy dessert... and very good. I didn't use as much glaze as called for, just enough to cover the strawberries. It would be just as good if you sprinkled the strawberries with sugar and allowed them to sit a little while, instead of glazing them.

Garlic Red Potatoes

I melted chedder cheese and more parmesan on top at the end, which added to the flavor. I also added italian seasoning and extra lemon juice. They came out very lemony with a little more flavor but I wouldn't say they were that great. The cheese really helped.

I used a little less bannanas and it still turned out great. Too many it may come out soggy in the middle. It is great warm with butter on top. I always add a little cinnamon and nutmeg to the recipe.

Jim Kaczmarek's Chili

Although my husband liked the chili a lot the first night, I found it too sweet. The second day it was even worse. I didn't follow the recipe exactly and maybe that was the problem.
