Peach Cobbler IV

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I made this because it was similar to my Grandma's recipe that I did not have handy at the time...Yikes! What a disaster! It never did cook all the way through and the batter tasted like wallpaper paste--no flavor. I poured off a lot of liquid at one point, then the part that did ook was chewy and tough like leather. The process is correct; melted butter, batter poured (not stirred), fruit and liquid over top. The proportions here are off, though...Mine was a mess, and never did get that delicious buttery crust like Grandma made.

Easy Turkey Tetrazzini

This is quick, easy, delicious and so lo-cal! (Just kidding about that last part...) We love most things with sour cream in them, anyway. Have made this with chicken and with leftover turkey and it was great both ways. When feeling especially lazy, a store-bought delicatessan roaster is perfect! I added frozen peas and fresh mushrooms, too, just for variation. Also freezes and reheats well.

Check your wattage! Mine burned horribly and tasted like tar.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
Not an attractive meal, but good, hearty flavor! This is an easy basic recipe, and I did make some adaptions, including using one can of Cream Of Celery soup and chicken broth and adding veggies (frozen peas and corn with fresh celery and carrots). Since we didn't want to wait two more hours to eat, we gave our biscuits a head start by baking them in the oven, then tossing them in the pot. They got good and soggy and were cooked-through that way! Perfect doughy consistency for dumplings. And one can of biscuits was plenty.
