Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
I cut back on the salt but other than that I did not change a thing. Thanks for putting this out here, Bill, it's nice to have a truly flavorful seasoning mix that is not store bought and full of "stuff". Awesome!

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
Made this for a friend who was having a get-together and wanted to serve a rum cake. He gave it rave reviews and told me it was a huge hit with his wife and all their guests. I'm not a "box cake" baker and having never made a rum cake in my life I was nervous about how this recipe would turn out but I should not have been. Though I did not taste it myself, I'm confident this is a good recipe as it got absolute rave reviews!

Baked Applesauce

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
In a word... FABULOUS! I used 5 apples (2 Red Delicious and 3 Ambrosia), 5 tablespoons of Splenda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/8 teaspoon ground clove and 1/3 of a freshly grated nutmeg nut along with a splash of vanilla extract. I checked it at the 30 minute mark and gave it a goooooood stir. When it was all baked (45 minutes) I gave it another gooooooo stir then used the immersion blender to make it smoother but left it rather chunky since that's the way I like it. Again, in a word... FABULOUS!

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
I found these to be rather lackluster in flavor even though I used gorgeous juicy limes right off my tree and followed the recipe exactly as written.

I halved all the ingredients except the flour (used 3/4cup) and omitted the nuts. Got 24 fabulous tasting cookies that were not flat :) Thanks for sharing!

Grilled Sea Bass

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
I found the flavors to be too mild... I suppose I just like my flavors to be more "front and center"

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
Used half the shrimp but the full amount of marinade. Added some red pepper flakes and reduced the olive oil to 1/4c based on other reviews. Excellent.

Old-World Rye Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
This really was great! Bought Organic Rye Flour at the market last night and wanted to find a good recipe for rye bread. This was it! I was worried about the cocoa powder at first but you can't taste it one bit. Before baking I brushed on a little bit of milk and sprinkled on some dry oats and it looks just like the loaf that's served at Outback Steakhouse... and tastes close to it as well. I halved the recipe since I was trying it out for the first time but will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing :)

burned them because of my own stupidity trying to rush but Jay said they were so good - make these again w/o burning and I bet they're fantastic!

Royal Icing III

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
Fantastic. I used 1 egg white, 1 cup confectioner's sugar and 1/4 tsp cream of tartar and the results were most excellent on sugar cookies. The cream of tartar is essential for a smooth icing . For all of you looking for the perfect royal icing, you've now found it!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies

Fantastic! I added a 1/2c creamy peanut butter and an additional 1/2c flour and these could not be more perfect. I didn't even chill the dough and these were downright fantastic!

Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
I made this with strawberries since that's what I had on hand. Made 1/4 of the recipe since too much of this in the freezer would just be too uber-tempting ;-) Fantastic end result!!!

Indian Saffron Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2008
Very good recipe. I used 1/2c boiling water to steep the saffron and 1 1/2c chicken broth for the remainder of the liquid. The taste was very nice though having never before had saffron I have nothing to compare it to. This was an easy recipe which I would make again.

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
Very very good - and easy :) I had to add water because the dough was much too dry. Mine were baked in 11 minutes on the TOP rack. I think the bottoms cook too quickly on the center or lower rack.
