White Chip Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
My grandaughter Taylee and I made these today, great comfort cookies! It was a blizzard outdoors, and taking them out of the oven was wonderful. They were very good as written, the only thing we did was add peanut butter chips because we didn't have white chips, and weren't about to go out in the blizzard.

Green Grog

This was very, very good, and fun for St. Patty's Day. It looked nice in stemmed chilled glasses, with green straws and stir sticks.

Whole Wheat Pita Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
These are wonderful! I did 3 cups of wheat flour and 2 of white. Also - I added more honey, about 1/8 cup. I made a mistake and baked them on baking racks with cookie sheets under them. I loved them that way! After I reread the instructions, I did the proper method of baking rack on oven rack - they were just ordinary. These freeze very nicely. Just lay them out in a container with wax paper between.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
I absolutely loved this recipe! I piped it on gingerbread men, it was perfect. It does take a bit more corn syrup and milk, as other reviewers stated. It is very forgiving.

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
Good Cookies. I added only 1 tsp. of ginger, 1 1/2 is too overpowering. Also added 1/2 cup of chopped pecans, and halved the amount of butterscotch chips as another reviewer suggested.

Any-Season Fruit Bowl

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
We made this recipe for our hospital health fair, and man, is it good! The anise flavoring makes the sauce. The sauce recipe can be cut in half, it makes way too much. We also substitued bananas for the grapefruit, since so many that came through the line could not eat grapefruit (due to conteraction with the anti-cholesterol drugs). We added both green and dark grapes for color. Good recipe.

Brunch Enchiladas

We made close to 100 of these babies for our hospital health fair breakfast. They went over well, and were easy to serve. Very, very tasty.

Peach Praline Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
These were very good. I made them for our health fair breakfast at work and they went over very well. I did the topping a bit different. I melted a 1/2 stick of BUTTER, and mixed the pecans and brown sugar together. After the muffins were out of the oven, I dipped the tops in the butter, and then the brown sugar/pecan mixture. YUM.

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
This is an excellent recipe. I forgot the flour (I do stuff like this all the time) but it was just fine without, I used more Seasoned Texas Toast croutons and crumbed them up with the spices. A big hit with my family.

Sugarless Fruit Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2008
These are so good, and nutritious. Wonderful for diabetics. I have looked everywhere for this recipe, and finely! A cook at our hospital used to make these - 20 years ago. This recipe is the same. She used to make them brownie fashion, in a 9 X13 pan. They were great that way. I took one reviewers suggestion, and used part wheat flour and flax, used 1/2 unsweetened applesauce and 1/2 butter, and increased the baking powder to 1 tsp. They were perfect, and keep nicely.

Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
This was the best chili ever. It has just replaced my tradional chili recipe. I did add one can of Tomato soup, 1/2 pound of hamburger, (South Dakota is a beef producing state!), and replaced the jalopenos with canned green chili peppers. mushrooms, Good-bye kidney beans! We have always loved corn in a chili. I think I will enter this in next year's football Chili cookoff. I appreciated one readers addition of the Weight Watcher's point value.

Sour Cream Raisin Cookies

My husband loved these, and I took a huge batch to church and they were gone within minutes. The kids even loved them. I added a 1/2 cup of pecans and that was yum. Great recipe.

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
These went over big at our "Marching Taco" party at work. They were easy to mix up, a little time consuming to roll but very much worth it. I always use real butter, and Watkins Cinnamon and Vanilla. Also, a tablespoon cookie scoop is a good investment, and makes the perfect sized cookies. I know I will make these again.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
I made this cake for my husband's birthday, and took the leftovers to work. It was such a big hit! It even had the doctors complimenting! What a rich, wonderful cake, and attractive as well. I did increase the baking cocoa to 1 cup in the cake, and used 2 cups of semi-sweet cho. chips in the frosting, replacing the chocolate squares. This cake recipe is a saver.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

This was good. I used Pre-made pie crust, and I don't know why~ I always make my own. That makes all the difference. I also added a couple of potatoes, and parsley.

Scottley's Basic Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
I made this cake for my granddaughter Lucy's baby shower. I will never make another box yellow cake again! gag. This was great ~ I beat the butter and sugar 10 minutes as another review said to do. this works nice. It can be a little dry, but one thing I do is take it out of the oven, let it cool slightly, and cover it good with plastic wrap and tin foil. Then I pop it in the freezer. That makes a moist cake every time. I made a "practice" cake before the shower and it was gone in 1 day. Thanks Scottley, for the wonderful recipe.

Chocolate Bar Pie II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
I made this for my son-in-law, and he ate 2 pieces. It is very, very good. I did add some candy kisses, about 1/2 cup, just because I had them left over from something else. Made it the perfect chocolate taste. Next time I may make my own graham cracker crust, just because.

Baked Ziti I

Loved this~ made it for my son-in-law and daughter for dinner the night they brought baby Lucy home from the hospital. It made enough to freeze for another time. I think the different cheeses lended an awesome flavor. Great recipe, and easy.

Chicken Crunch

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
This is so good~ I cut the chicken breasts into strips. I crumbled the crackers, and added melted butter to the crackers, baked it as directed. I didn't double the sauce, that might be a good idea if you used more chicken. YUM.
