Me and little red (Aeron).
About this Cook
I am a busy stay-at-home mom of 5 children. My oldest is a daughter who is 12, and then I have 4 boys spanning in ages from 10, 7, 3, and 1. We are a family of ADDer's and other special needs. My two oldest boys play soccer, so I guess I am a soccer mom. I enjoy cooking nourishing food for my family. In my free time, I also enjoy making jewelry, playing with our dog Bella, and taking a nap.
My favorite things to cook
Breads (i.e. rolls and whole wheat bread), dinners, cookies, and other assorted desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Right now my favorite tradition is going up to my 87 year old grandfather's house who is wheel-chair bound and cooking for him. We rummage around the kitchen cooking and chatting. My grandfather raised me and holds a very special spot in my heart. It gives me a special feeling to be able help cook and provide for him in his declining years.
My cooking triumphs
This Christmas I mastered fudge. After ruining 3 batches, I was determined to figure it out. Finally one the fourth try, it did it.
My cooking tragedies
Fudge again, I wasted so much chocolate chips and cream. But once I set a goal, I am determined to reach it. Also, this Christmas I made my family these really delicious oatmeal muffins. You make them using leftover oatmeal, which we eat at least once a week. I forgot the sugar. Right as I was biting into it, I realized my mistake and then I tasted it! I was so tired during the holiday, I got forgetful. What a waste!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast
My husband and children LOVED this recipe. I prepared it as directed and was concerned there wouldn't be enough sauce. But there was. My husband couldn't wait for me to prepare it with the noodles and simply shredded it and mixed it in with the sauce for a pulled pork sandwich. The only leftovers remaining have been set aside by my husband for his lunch tomorrow. Thanks for the recipe! I'll definitely be making this again.

Banana Pudding I
I liked how the easiness of this recipe. And, maybe the egg whites may complicate the smooth texture of this recipe. But, using 3 eggs, is less expensive than using 6 egg yolks. The other change I made to this recipe is that I ran the milk and 2 bananas through the blender and the highest speed. Then I added this mixture to the other ingredients. Not only did it help use up more bananas, which I have plenty of, but it added more banana flavor. I like the genuine banana flavor as opposed to the fake banana flavor derived from the boxed recipes. Thanks for sharing this great recipe. It does remind me of my grandparents. They made do with what they had on hand while living as economically as possible.
